That is why Hicks & Gilette seem to want Rafa out ASAP as he has blown his chance with all the money he spent on the likes of Torres etc and look at their league situation. They are legit pissed that after all the money Rafa has used, he is not delivering at all. The 2005 CL win (and finishing 5th that season) has long gone lost its spark.
Next time you want to compare Sir Alex Ferguson with someone like Benitez/Mehnitez, take a good look in the mirror and history before doing that.
Seriously mate, stop embarassing yourself - Rafa is just part of the puzzle of Liverpool's continuous mediocrity since August 1990.sigpic

Just look at the facts: it took Ferguson 6 years to win his first premier league title. So that you do not say i am twisting facts, I will add that it took him 4 years to win the FA cup.
Benitez strolled into liverpool and won the CL in his first year, FA Cup in his second, and got a CL final place in the third.
Dont try :bs: ing the facts up by saying Rafa was more experienced: they both came in at age 44/45 and if anything, Alex was more experienced having COACHED A NATIONAL SIDE.
Give Benitez the 6 years that the poor mancs gave ferguson, and we'll be having that premier league title. Hate to break it to you, but the starting records speak for themselves. End of.Backing Daei since 1992, to this day.

Fair enough. You did finish 5th that 2005 season way behind Chelsea.
But with Hicks and Gilette being increasingly restless about Rafa and that is getting to the players too, I am not sure Rafa can remain in the fray for his 6th season. He left Valencia in their peak when they had won La Liga and the UEFA Cup because he didnt get along with the chairman there - and clearly he is in a much stickier position now than then.
Remember Gerard Houlier won 3 trophies on 2000/01, and finished 2nd in 2002, but left his job in 2004. So consistency counts, and winning the league is really important for that was what Hicks and Gilette gave their cash to buy Torres, Babel, Voronin (he's a waste) etc only for Rafa to not use them at all in the starting lineup and relying on folks like Harry Kewell....Babel is better than that useless Aussie by a light year !!!
As I said, them Yanks controlling Liverpool now are not pleased with Rafa for he has not made their investment in the transfer market put to good use and go all out.
Hell the reason Hicks and Gillette arent getting along because even after that Rafa had the nerve to ask them for more funds for January when he had spent $$$ already in the summer and not gotten what they wanted. Shame really.
p.s. Yes Sir Alex did coach Scotland, but that was just for 1-2 months because the legendary Jock Stein had died and he was made caretaker in emergency for (I think) the 1986 World Cup after which he left the post.sigpic

Rafa's problem is that he will NEVEr understand how the league works. he is fantastic in cup formats; knows how to get his team motivated and is a great tactition. But when it comes down to the league he simply doesnt understand that chemistry is always more important than experimentation. Every team, no matter how talented, needs a solid first team as its rock. Liverpool doesnt have one. And for some reason Rafa is extreeeeeeeeeeeemley stubborn with his favourites. For the past while, dirk kuyt has shown that he is crap; utter crap. Yet ever match day he is out there running around like chikcen without a head. Personally i think he should leave liverpool and go to Spain national team. He has proved himself well enough when it comes to clubs; national side team would be perfect for him. The only thing he would have to worry about are cups then. The obscure we see eventually. The completely obvious, it seems, takes longer. ~Edward R. Murrow
