Originally posted by miladhehe... i didnt want to brag about arsenal but i was just mentioning it as one of our recent achievements. so YOU are the poru one because you knew this and YES you did mention 3-0, 3-1, and 6-3....
and I never asked whether I always mentioned 3-0, 3-1, and 6-3! I asked "Do you see us throwing it this way and that all the time?"! We only use it in self-defense Just so you don't get too poru with your one time win

PSV hasn't been doing well in the Dutch competition lately, and for this game had their best defender (Alex) and their forward (Arouna Kone) missing.
Still I'm sure Liverpool would've won if that wasn't the case, but I doubt it would've gone this easily.Persian Pride running through my veins!

It's Liverpuddlians!
Well, because no-one else has I suppose I'll do a review of the match and goals etc.
Chances:
Very VERY early on, Liverpool looked like they were going to take the lead as Jamie Carragher got onto the end of a corner kick really well. His shot was on target, aiming for the edge of goal, but the shot was just kept out by goalie Gomes who had to stretch and dive to knock the ball past the post.
Then it was PSV's turn. In what turned out to be a very rare attempt on goal, an unmarked Mika Varynen at the far post saw his angled volley deflected over by Pepe Reina, who had excellently managed to stay awake and alert despite long periods of time during which he was able to relax, while his Liverpool team-mates were pushing forwards towards goal.
After 27 minutes, Liverpool were rewarded as captain Steven Gerrard got on the end of a cross by Steve Finnan, who had made an excellent run from quite deep midfield. Dirk Kuyt, who was better placed than the skipper, made a small step away from the best heading position in order to let his captain have a decent go at it, because he was standing right beneath the ball (very hard to get decent leverage and get off the ground high enough to make contact) whereas the skipper was running in to meet it.
And so, 27" was Steven Gerrard's record breaking header: The goal was Steven Gerrard's 15th in the European cup and he overtook Ian Rush to claim the record for most goals scored for Liverpool in a top Euro competition. Gerrard later said, "Im quite embarrassed about it, actually!" Aawwwh! that's why we love him!
Anyhow, the strike forced PSV into a change of plan and they attempted to be a little more attacking. Ha! Just after the break, it was almost 2-0, because Gomes had a misunderstanding with a defender. Xabi Alonso (fit Spanish midfielder) looked up, and noticed that his route to goal was clear. But he put too much spin or power (or both) on the ball and it went both over and wide of the left bar.
In the 49", John Arne Riise unleashed one of his trademark left footed rocket. He expertly leant to the right, which confused the keeper. Then he let rip and the ball rattled the entire goal, while Gomes got there just late due to Riise's clever leaning skills! 2-0
Finally, Crouch put a lid on 4 goals in 4 days, in the 63". A point-perfect delivery from Finnan, and crouch nodded it in from 8 yards. Full Time: 3-0
-----------------------------
Even after the third goal, Rafa Benitez was still urging his team on rather than sitting back, relaxing, and enjoying Liverpool dominate the game as though they were controlling their opposition on PSP.
Unfortunately, Fabio Aurelio ruptured an Achilles tendon in the 67". I think it was, anyway. Im not sure. He could be out for up to four months, certainly no less than three. He was dribbling the ball with no-one around him when suddenly he stopped, straightened up, and held his leg in agony. Its the same thing as ex-Liverpool player, Mark Lawrenson, suffered during his time with the club. He said about the incident, "I remember looknig up cause I was sure someone had made a really bad tackle but there was no-one anywhere near me". Unfortunately, it's just one of those things. Worst still (for Brazilian Aurelio), the injury has been known to be a career-threatening one: very hard to come back from.
So there it is.
In short:
Goals:
Gerrard 27", Riise 49", Crouch 63".
Booked:
Kluivert, Feher (both PSV), Mascherano, Kuyt (both Liverpool).Backing Daei since 1992, to this day.
