Andy Carroll and Charles N'Zogbia have been told to forget their differences and pull together for the sake of the club.

The Irishman has reportedly held a meeting with the two players to clear the air, and has tried to resolve an issue that has reportedly not yet died away fully by putting the players on the same team in training exercises.

He has also urged them to forget their differences for the good of the team, The Newcastle Evening Chronicle reports, as the Toon find themselves engulfed in a crisis situation, battling a long injury list and relegation at the same time.

Newcastle United Close In On Toulouse's Albin Ebondo
Talks have reportedly gone well, and the Tynesiders are close to securing the signature of the French defender.

Joe Kinnear is apparently set to add some significant defensive reinforcement to his under-pressure Newcastle United squad, as reports on Tyneside indicate that Toulouse's 24-year-old defender Albin Ebondo is set to join the Magpies within the next 24 hours.

The Toulouse defender will be Kinnear's second significant capture of this January's transfer window following the signing last week until the end of the season of former Rangers and Schalke 04 winger, Peter Lovenkrands.

Kinnear has also added backroom reinforcement in the shape of former Nottingham Forest manager Colin Calderwood, who has joined the Geordie club as a coach, specifically tasked with improving the Magpies' defence.

"Talks have been going very well regarding Albin, and we are working hard to make sure he comes to Newcastle," Kinnear told The Newcastle Evening Chronicle.

"We also have Colin Calderwood on board now, and he will be joining us until the end of the season to bring something else to our backroom team."

Calderwood, a former Scotland international who left his job at the City Ground before Christmas, has an impressive management CV, having won promotions with Northampton Town as well as Forest. He enjoys a close personal relationship with Newcastle's assistant manager Chris Hughton fro their time together at Tottenham, and his appointment is further evidence that Kinnear is working hard to improve the team every way he feels he can.
