Newcastle United Confirm Joey Barton And Michael Owen Injuries
Barton and Owen will each spend more time on the sidelines, with the midfielder missing for around two months while the forward faces well over a month out...
Newcastle United's injury woes continue with the news that Joey Barton and Michael Owen will promptly return to the treatment room.
The Magpies have confirmed via their official website that pantomime baddie Barton has fractured his fifth metatarsal in his right foot.
"Joey will undergo surgery on Friday and is expected to be out for around eight weeks," their statement reads.
Barton has previously battled back from a similar injury to the same foot.
Notorious crock Owen is also expected to sit out after limping out of Wednesday evening's 2-1 defeat at the hands of Manchester City.
It is thought that he's sustained a cracked bone in his left ankle and could miss more than six weeks of action.
Owen has been looking fit and sharp in recent weeks, but his body has once again become his worst enemy.
Reports had linked him with a St. James' Park exit before the end of the month but alleged suitors such as Aston Villa are likely to steer well clear now.
