Ameobi holds Magpies hope
Shola Ameobi hopes Newcastle United will not price him out of a move, if he is not part of Kevin Keegan's plans.
The striker has been tipped to leave St James' Park over the summer, with West Brom, Ipswich and Norwich all linked with the former England Under 21 international.
Ameobi has struggled for fitness in recent seasons, but is set to shake off a hamstring injury to be available to face Manchester United in the opening game of the season on Sunday.
He remains keen to continue his career with the Magpies, but admits he is anxious to be playing regular first-team football this term.
Faithful servant
"I hope it will not be the case that I get priced out of a move," Ameobi told the Daily Express. "If the club don't want me, I've been a faithful servant to them.
"I've been no problem, so hopefully, in a perfect world, being allowed to leave for a reasonable price would happen. But in football you never know, so I'm just hoping and working hard.
"I always want to play football. Newcastle were my team when I grew up and that's who I want to play for, but football comes first for me.
"If regular football doesn't happen here, I've always said I'll have to go somewhere else, but I'm still hoping I can get a chance at Newcastle.
"It's up to me to try to force my way into the team. Hopefully I can impress the manager."Comment

i was in the game on saturday vs valencia and i tell you what, watch out mancs, spidermag is gonna give you a small lesson in football (he might do a dive or 2, your manager loves divers and might buy him of us by the end of the season).
As for the mackems (your lovers)!!! how will they finish above us??? who did they buy?? Ronaldo?? all they got were leftover players from spurs (who we beat 3-1 & 4-1 last season)
and a spitter, Keano aint shit.
I'm sure we'll finish 8th (if not higher this season), higher the next then top 4 in 2010 (wanna bet?), as for your SUPER SQUAD lets see what you'll do without ronaldo

good news: we signed our 4th player and we're ready for the mancs, and shrek managed to clear off the shits he picked up while they were on the money trip to south africa.
Bad news: Owen will now miss the game (unless something extraordenary happens).
