    Totti A Disgrace

ROME, Feb 9 (Reuters) - AS Roma captain Francesco Totti has ruled out an imminent return to the Italian national team.

The 30-year-old striker, who has scored 10 goals in 58 international appearances, decided to take a break from the Azzurri after they won last year's World Cup.

Italy coach Roberto Donadoni has repeatedly said the door remains open for his return to the team, but Totti is in no hurry to take up the offer.
"I've got better things to do at the moment," he was quoted as saying by Italian news agency ANSA on Friday.
Totti is widely regarded as Italy's most talented player but has rarely produced his best form for the national team.
Sent off when Italy were dumped out of the 2002 World Cup by South Korea, and banned from Euro 2004 for spitting at Danish midfielder Christian Poulsen, he was one of the few disappointments of Italy's victorious World Cup campaign in Germany last year.
He scored a stoppage-time penalty to beat Australia in the last 16, but his performances were a pale reflection of those he regularly gives for Roma in Serie A.
Italy's next fixture is a Euro 2008 Group B qualifier against Scotland on March 28. If this is true I have lost all respect for someone who was one of my favorite players and someone I always stuck up for.

Its fine to retire, or say my time in an azzuri shirt is over, but "I have better things to do," is disgusting.

Totti is probably one of the most loyal players out there. He was born and raised playing soccer in Roma, and is very loyal to the NT and players.

Aryaan is an example of how media changes a fans interest in a player.

              Aryaan jan,

Don't worry, he'll be back on time. I understand him sort of. He was under a huuuuuuge pressure before the world cup to come back and play for people. and he did come back and tried his best. I think he is still tierd of that huge pressure and wants to spend more time with Roma and his family. If that wasn't the case, Donadonni and Italian media would crash and burn him!

So don't worry and don't be mad.

Ok Ok, maybe I overracted a bit, in my heart I hoped the media twisted his statement.

At the moment I feel Totti is focused on reducing the gap between Roma and Inter in the Serie A, whilst also preparing for the Champions League clash with Lyon(??) so its logical he said that, but no doubt about his loyalty to the national side and to his club, lets just say Italy already have a great squad and Totti may feel they can do better in the Euro qualifiers without him.

Please Read my Post, before answering. I said if I find this is true, then I have lost respect for him, he is still a great player nonetheless.
