Umm.... I dont think anyone has posted this thread. Mods, please close this if someone else has already created one...
I did search first, though.
Actually, tehre's not much point in opening this. England played rubbish against an Israel side that weren't all that great either. BBC sport says, "miserable stalemate
In fact, England's only real chances came from a Jamie Carragher header, and a Frank Lampark mess up (also a shot just off target by Andy Johnson).
Frank Lampard got a great shot in from not-so-deep mid field (right-to-centre) from Steven Gerrard, and with just the keeper to beat, everyone thought this would be the moment that the critics saying Gerrard and Lampard couldnt play together would be silenced. But the Lampard seemed to stumble or hesitate, not sure which. Anyway, he messed up and the (quite brave considering quite recent Petr Cech thing) Israel keeper came out and grabbed the ball from Lamps's feet. That was really England's best chance, all it needed was a chip (also would like to add that Rooney was open and waiting to Lampard's right but the England number 8 seemed intent on goal - he didnt even look up which is probably wise as it would have meant further hesitation. Either way, he didnt get a chance).
I didnt see the Andy Johnson chance,I only know about it from BBC sport roundup.
Jamie Carragher had quite a few headers, but almost all were far too high over the bar to even be called 'off target'.
Gerrard had 3 rocken shots at goal. All were blocked by Israel defenders that seemed to be in a huge amount of pain after each block!
Rooney was completely uninspired during the whole game. He played well, but absolutely rubbish compared to his usual standard.
Funny: Lampard had a tantrum after failing to score. He fell down onto the ground, on his stomach, and pounded the ground with his fists. It was hilarious!
EDIT: Thanks to Arian, I just realised I didnt even post the score. Yes, it did finish 0-0.
