sauids had hard time in AUS

saudi olympic team had hard time in australia before their match agianst the australian olympic team tomorrow in adeliade..

the airport authority asked all the players to wash their shoes before entering adeliade ,and then the australian football federation put them in a small 3 stars hotel surounded by a cemetery!!!

    source: from saudi newspapers

iran also playing in the same group i think they should be ready for such problems in aus.

I hate to say it, but the Saudis deserve this and even more. I remember everytime Irans been to Saudi Arabia since 1996 we've faced the most disgraceful behavior from people honking their car horns outside of the teams hotel to not providing adequate food for the team in the hotel to holding up the players for hours at the airport.

                    we do that too.
We did it to Qatar both in 97 WCQ and in 2004 WCQ.
We put them in a far hotel (from Azadi) and gave them bad food and a crap raining pitch, but after we beat them everything changed and we were nice to them.

                      Could you give some examples?

Washing of the shoes: Australia has very tight quarantine regulations. It has a very fragile ecosystem and due to its remote nature it is susceptible to being overrun by foreign pests, ranging from insects, to the Saudi football team.

                      Shoes

Shoes and other footwear that you bring into Australia must be free from contaminants such as dirt or seeds. Used footwear will be inspected at the airports to ensure they are clean. Shoes can be cleaned with household disinfectant, washing soda, or vinegar prior to arrival in Australia. Shoes treated in this way will not require treatment on arrival by quarantine inspectors unless they are found to be unclean at the time of inspection. Travellers should pack these items at the top of their suitcase to allow easy access for quarantine inspectors. Shoes that are found to be unclean will be treated before release from quarantine.

As for the hotel, are the Saudis here for a vacation or for work? It’s only a Olympic qualifier for god’s sake. The stadium capacity is only 15,000 so that gives you some idea of how seriously the game is treated. In addition, I hardly think a nation that so vehemently restricts its guests from practicing their native culture just to appease its medieval ideology is in a position to pass judgement on Australia’s hospitality.

You think that's stupid ? I watched a Pakistani news channel and they showed the press conference of the Kuwait Olympic team Captain and Coach for the qualifier against Pakistan today, in which they mentioned about bad transport from airport to hotel. Also the conditions where they r staying are pretty bad as well as the food they got.

I guess these GCC Arab sides are too much pampered with Bentleys and 5 Star hotels etc etc etc. They can afford to go eat out at the western restaurants. They can also go to a better hotel at their expense. This is not a big deal.
