Bayern may not have been in their best, but there was a certain dutchmen that was on fire today. Arjen Robben. He was brilliant, running at players, great on the ball, and was causing problems with his pace and acceleration. I remember when he was in the Premiership, and they all considered him as a great left-winger.. and he is. I rate him alot.I've learnt it's not what you have in your life, but who you have in your life that counts

oh yea what other german teams can even compete?? theres only bayern and once in a while they do something...hala wait til next round when they get murdered. Fiorentina is 10th place in serie A and best team in germany had to beat them by CHEATING...and u know this
theres no way u can argue that 2nd goal in the last game was LEGIT so just like ur signature, dont defend cheaters please

surely now serieA will lose the CL 4th spot to bundesliga who imho are at the moment better than serieA, not only in CL but europa league as well.
Lal liga still rules though as number 1!
what a golaso by robben, stupid real madrid got rid of their best players: robben and snijder. i hope they come back and haunt them in the next round (if they can beat lyon!).
GRACIAS PEP

Some analysts were saying at the time that Germany's bench was good enough to win the WC.

i dont know about them being head and shoulders above, italy was host thats why they should've won, just like how germany shoulda won 06 but they lost head to head with italy. in 90 italy didnt come across germany so u cant say that but they had these legends; schillachi (top scorer), baggio, baresi, maldini, zola and more

Schillachi was a bench player. My friends all started to believe in my football knowledge when they saw how I was screaming at the TV asking for the italian coach to sub him in the first game against austria and when he finally did he scored the winner. Maldini and baggio were too young but they had nowhere near the # of talent germany had. When some experts said german bench was good enough to win, the kaiser said, this team without Lothar Mathaus and voller will not be able to do anything. Ironically 2 years later when the team lost to Denmark in the euro cup final, it was pretty much the same team sans voller and mathaus! but that team was amazing and had only on tie which was a result of a 90th minute goal by columbia. It was virtually the same team that made it to WC 86 final plus Klinsmann, hasler, kohler, augentaller and a bodo ilgner in his prime. That team was so good, Olaf Thon was a bench player.
On the other hand, again, the 06 italian team was all talent and experience and the german team was such a young team and they almost made it----1990 TM, You will always have a special place in our hearts

We deserved over the two legs and although we lost after 17 games, it wasn't a bad loss afterall.
I really want Bordox now as I know we can beat them and show them our 2x defeat to them in the group stage was a flukeLast edited by The-Red; 03-10-2010, 12:54 AM.sigpic

armin,
im sure the result of the first leg also affected this leg. in other words, bayern must have played more cautious after scoring the 2nd cos that was enough to send us through.
the same with fiorentina, if the first leg had ended 1-1, maybe fiorentina wouldnt score 3 today!
so, i think the team preferred to lose but play safe and have a higher chance going through rather than the game against juventus go out all attack and risk being vulnerable behind.
anyways, thats the past now and we qualified.
apparently mario gomez also got injured and will be out for another 2-3 weeks like demichellis. injuries are killing us.
also apparently, schweinsteiger who is filling up the central role in midfield very well this season will be missing first leg of next game due to 2 yellow cards i think.
the teams are more difficult as well. so its very difficult for us from now on but we can go higher than quarters. a semi finals exit is good enough for me specially with our weak defense situation. our main weak point is our defense, so i think we stand a higher chance against teams who are not very potent upfront.
anyways, does anyone have the highlights to the game?
apparently there was a very strong wind blowing which was changing the direction of the ball all the time and the game was about to be postponed.
van buyten seemed so slow and clumsy on 1st and 3rd goal! he was having a great season so far but again...
Here are the goals:

^ya I understand yashar, I was just talking about those claims that say the ref's decision was the reason why Bayern went through...of course, both teams played based on the first game's reuslt.
I think with some luck in the draw, we can find outselves in the final 4.sigpic
