ok someone needs to make this thread about Bayern now.
So I loved Bayern's starategy. Even though they were able to tie the game up they still attacked like they were behind. I think its because they know whats gonna wait for them in Manchester. Having said that, what do you guys believe Bayern should do? Should they defend like their life is dependent on it or should they attack to get that one important away goal!?----1990 TM, You will always have a special place in our hearts
Goalie-----------abedzadeh----------
Defense----hassanzadeh-----zarincheh-------moharami----
midfield---namjoo motlagh---shahrokh bayani---cyrus ghayeghran---eftekhari---Abtahi
forward-----pius-----marfavi-----

also attacking will be much easier with robben and gomez back at 100%

I keep reading everywhere how bayern got revenge for 99 final. Just becasue Bayern scored an injury time goal it doesn't mean they got revenge of 1999. This is just one game and bayern dominated the game from the 2nd minute on. ManU didn't dominate the 99 game. as a matter of fact the best goal scoring chance was missed by Bayern when Jancker hit the post. I wish Ali Daei was in instead.
As a bayern fan I have to say we got closure when we beat ManU in both legs 2 years later mostly because Bayern won the CL and not just against ManU.
fellow Bayern fans need to let it go. 99 is OVER. It became a distant memory back in May of 2001----1990 TM, You will always have a special place in our hearts

Altintop had a great game imo. He had good movement and was able to connect a lot of passes and got into good scoring posistions. A few times his touch let him down but overall I think he played well.
The second leg in Manchester is going to be cracking.

About the 2nd leg persianbruin, ManU in this situation in particular does not allow any team totake the game to them, they will attackfrom min 1, untill they know they are through...so Bayern better defend well and tkae the chances we get and that said, Bayern still the underdogs by far.
iransoccer jan, altintop had a decent game, but i must say, he didn't have 1 decent cross all game long...I mean he is expected to do much more in a game like this.sigpic

W/ 3 starters out, we beat one of the most in-form clubs in Europe.
Manu still has a huge advantage going back to manchester and are the favorits to go through, but this one will make sure they don't talk about 99 as much anymore,,,,we handed them a 99 in its own kind.
repped!

we played frankfurt last sat, then schalke in pokal cup for 120 minutes, then this sat we played stuttgart, then we played man utd this tuesday, then we play schalke again on saturday, then we play man utd on wed nesday then again sat or sun we play leverkusen!!!
thats not it, if we qualify in CL, we have to play the semis in 1 or 2 weeks i think and then agian return leg in 1 week and then the final in 1 or 2 weeks. i dont have the exact dates but thats wat the commentator was saying!
this is ridiculous!! for all teams, even man utd has the same problem! its a crime!!! with a lil bit more space between the games, we would have seen much better football from all european teams, less fatigue, less injuries!

oh well, who cares, kross is coming back next year
we have 3 great talents in the making already:
badstuber in defense who can play as CB or LB, muller anywhere in midfield or supporting striker and toni kroos as attacking midfielder or supporting striker and a freekick specialist

alright my intake on the game,,,,,
first of all, it was a perfect football day for me yesterday!
both iranian teams won in ACL and bayern also beat man utd!
hopefully esteghlal and sepahan will win today as well although im predicting a 2-2 draw for esteghlal and GN getting his first 3 points in ACL with a narrow 1-0 or something..
---------------------
back to the game,
we started the worst possible way.
conceding a goal in the 2nd minute because our defender slipped and rooney was all alone to tap the ball in was frustrating! i mean of all the 22 players on the field, the only player that had to slip was the defender towards whom the deflected ball was approaching maybe if instead of demichellis anyone else, even butt would slip, things would have been difference!
however, i guess with this early goal, it gave man utd the reason to push back and bayern to push forward and play their usual possession in the opponents midfield game.
we played well and created some good chances specially altintop who broke the offside trap but couldnt control the ball properly or olic who should have scored that tap in from altintops deflected shot.
we had problems with creativity in the absence of robben and schweini and mostly restricted to shots on goals or runs by ribery, lahm and altintop but little results since most of the crosses were cleared by their defenders or van der sar.
also, it was strange seeing muller playing as target striker since he doesnt have the built to challenge vidic and ferdinand and he isnt good in the air either inspite of his good height.
we could have conceded the 2nd goal agian when demichellis made his 2nd mistake of the day and the ball passed over his head and fell to rooney but butt kept us in the game with a quick exit and saving rooneys shot in time.
man utd also got lucky scholes didnt get any cards on a very harsh tackle in the first half. atleast it deserved a yellow if not red and he got a yellow in the second half, so maybe he would have been red carded and could miss the next game as well!
second half we started well and created 2 3 dangerous scenes with olic shot sent to corner by van der sar and van buytens shot being blocked by defender infront of the goal on the corner kick but then again we were finding it difficult to break man utds defense. they were defending in numbers and at the same time, we didnt have many creative in the field and againg, it was mostly ribery cutting through their defense (and to some extent olic, altintop and lahm) otherwise our chances were mostly taking shots on goal through van bommel, altintop, olic, pranjic and ribery.
but then, we got lucky and ribery's weak freekick diverted off rooney into the goal and after that, vidics header hit the bar and once again, our defense left him all alone
and in the end, once again olic came to our rescue thanks to his work ethics and committment, i love this guy and his never say die attitude!
all throughout the 90 minutes, he pressurized van der sar every time man utd gave a back pass!
olic saved us against juve by scoring one and winning a penalty, he saved us against fiorentina by assissting that famous offside goal and today again he saved us against man utd! its a shame he is 29 already
he however shouldnt have got that silly yellow card for removing his shirt and this can cost us in the future!
i hope we will have robben and schweini back in the return leg and hopefully by that time, gomez, demichellis and ribery will have more match practice!
one point about the game was louis van gaals excellent subsitutions and sir alex ferguson flop substitutions.
man utd was playing well before the subs with their 4-5-1 and although they couldnt create a lot of chances, they were able to defend very well and rooney always created trouble upfront with park continously running along the line and forcing lahm and van buyten not to advance too much.
but once berbatov and valencia coming in, rooney had to drop back and park wasnt there anymore to use his speed to pressurize lahm. after those subsitutions, bayern scored both goals.
on the other hand, bayerns 2nd goal was created directly by the 3 subs of vangaal. tymoschu headed the ball to klose who gave a one touch pass to gomez and gomez indivdual skills caused confusion in man utds defense and ofcourse olic's persistence and evra's passive attitude gave us the winning goal!
for return leg, i hope we have robben and schweini back as well and if rooney is not there, then they would know how it felt like to lose ur most infrom player before such a crucial game
well, 2-1 is a good result but not the best. we have to go to old trafford and make sure we score 1 goal atleast. if we score one, man utd needs to score atleast 3 to eliminated us which is also possible, even if they score 2 in 90 minutes and a 3rd in extra time.
although demichellis did 2 big mistakes which were huge mistakes, i think it was still a better decision than playing badstuber in CB next to van buyten and then playing the totally inexperienced contento or alaba as LB and get crucified by nani and valencia! besides, rest of the game, demichellis did well covering rooney and nani.
i was happy with most of our players, and pleasantly surprised by pranjic and altintop.
i was disappointed in lahm the most, he was very conservative and didnt do his usual runs along the flank, mostly gave back passes or side passes and tried to have combination moves. maybe he was instructed not to risk and take one on one duels and expose our right side to evra and park, or maybe he was being conservative himself, i dunno but i expected more form him. hopefully with the return of robben next week, he can perform better although robben hardly helps in defense, so again lahm will have to be careful not to leave space behind him!
muller also was not so good, which has been a recent case, but in this game, he was playing target man which is not something he can do in my opinion, so its ok.
for next game, i hope we play the same formation like this game and same players except schweini ofcourse replaces pranjic in middle next to van bommel and robben replaces altintop on right side.
upfront, i think gomez and olic should start and muller needs to be benched along with klose.
about our style of play, man utd will definitely push to score from the 1st minute in old trafford and we shouldnt expect the same we saw from them yesterday.
on the other hand, our style of play under van gaal is possession football in the opponents half which will be very difficult since man utd will also be pushing forward. so we may not push so much forward but rely on robben, ribery and olic for counter attacks and ofcourse, gomez, van buyten and demichellis on corner kicks or robbens free kicks!
however, im not sure how many cards olic has and whether he will be available next game or not?
over all, i think it was a great entertaining game with both teams creating good chances but missing their opportunities!
if we want to go higher in ACL, we need to start making better use of our opportunities since we cant afford missing chances like tap ins in CL a lot!
one thing to be noted is both man utd and bayern are not defensively strong enough to handle barcelonas speed and skill although barca isnt as strong as last year, but still.
i think it is in the benefit of bayern and even man utd that inter wins that bracket and reaches the final (Assuming either bayern or man utd will reach the final on this side; lyon or bordeaux are no pushovers!) because of their physical game and lack of speed and technique whihc matches bayern/utds game!

I didn't read all that, but all I know is that Bayern's defense is crap and damn slow. They'll have a very hard time in Manchester, with or without Rooney. I doubt Bayern will be able to keep ManU from scoring, so they will need a goal. The good thing for them is that Robben will be back by then (if he doesn't get a new injury in the meantime lol).Last edited by Amin_; 03-31-2010, 01:38 AM.Persian Pride running through my veins!
