i feel big time for getafe, i was watching the game and thought it was SURELY over after the first few minutes of extra time, BM's 2nd goal could have been prevented easily, but hats off to Getafe, almost making BM look foolish with a man down from the 6th minute on

Boy talk about BAD LUCK of biblical proportions for lowly Getafe.
Having a man sent off in the first 7 min, Getafe still managing to take the lead and we almost through before a defensive lapse allowed Ribery to equalise in the final minutes of normal time to take the game towards extra time.
Then Getafe struck back with their 10 men again, and scored 2 in extra time and were all set for that, before a goalkeeper blunder allowed Toni to get one back and then in the final seconds of extra time head the ball home to break Getafe hearts.
Talk about being cruel.
So now off to Zenit St. Petersburg for the Bavarians in the UEFA Cup semis
patos blunder was as bad as lucios blunder. lucio gifted getafe a goal as well when he slipped twice and not able to clear it, noone seems to mention that.
besides, the game is never over until the referee blows the whistle, U AS A MAN UTD FAN of all should know this, unless ur only champions leauge trophy in 1999 was lucky as well

thats even more difficult than playing against barcelona or man utd or any big team!!!
getafe did nothing but sit back with 10 men and counter attack!
its funny yet ironic since in the other thread and many previous threads, we have discussed beauty of football being lost cos of defensive teams like getafe or greece!

well back in 1999 you werent down to 10 men since the 7th min like Getafe was last night - in fact you were lucky enough not to have Paul Scholes and Roy Keane in our side coz of suspension (otherwise Bayern would have been TOAST just like Juventus was in Turin in the semis)
your side bottled up in 1999...just like Milan did in 2005
p.s. look who's talking about the "only champions league trophy" which bayern have also won just once in 2001.sigpic

for all u know maybe man utd, wouldnt even score those 2 goals cos then the game situation and those 2 corners could have ended differently
besides, we did play u guys in the group games as well (with barcelona in our group as well if u remember) and u didnt make any toast of us with ur full team including roy keane and paul scholes who for sure were no messiahs, so no, we wouldnt be toast buddy! thats just wishful thinking
we drew 2-2 in munich with u guys and 1-1 at old trafford!
infact, we qualified first from the group and u guys came second in the group AND QUALIFIED, THANKS TO "THE BEST SECOND TEAM QUALIFICATION LAW", barca came third! so yea, u really did toast us!
I WILL TELL U WAT COULD HAVE CHANGED THE GAME AND TOAST U THAT NIGHT, MEHMET SCHOLLS CLEVER CHIP WHICH HIT THE POST AND CARSTEN JANCKERS OVERHEAD KICK WHICH HIT THE POST A SECOND TIME! so indeed, u guys were REALLY LUCKY THAT NIGHT! Schmeichel was shitting in his pants fthe entire game and didnt know wats hitting him left and right, only for the post to save his ass twice!!
u guys were in no ways champions that year, and that trophy definitely deserved to bayern, u guys were only lucky
save it ahsan, man utd is the last team to be commenting about bayern being "lucky" against getafe! (real madrid shouldnt even open its mouth, they might have the most trophies in europe, but Bayern will always be their daddy. check the head to head results again!)
the legend, Lothar Mathaus comments after the game:"it was not the best team that won but the luckiest"
and then, "SIR" Alex Fergusons comments after the game:"Football, bloody hell!"
explains the whole 90, err, i mean 93 minutes in a nutshell!
2) we werent 1 man down against man utd from 7th min but we didnt play with 10 men in the penalty area like getafe did either! we played an open pleasing football that night and continued to attack and hit ur post twice. not play 10 men in the penalty area and just rely on counter attacks!
3)we had won 3 european cups (now champions league) in a row in the 70s while u guys had won only once in 1968, not to mention u havent won a UEFA cup either while we have won that as well
P.S. now, u have made me say this as well for all those man utd fans who keep making fun of arsenal and inter for not having enough english or italian players, ten out of the eleven bayern players that game were german while only FOUR out of the eleven for man utd were english!

All that time taken just to write that ?
We won the damn thing in 1968 after beating Eusebio's Benfica 4-1 after extra time...making us the first English club to do so...Celtic being the first Brits a few years earlier though we could have won it way back in 1958 after reaching the semis had it not been for the Munich air disaster
Momentum counts. After the FA Cup semi-final replay with Arsenal (down to 10 men before Giggs scored in extra time), 2-0 (3-1 on agg) down to Juventus and ended up winning 3-2 (4-3 on agg.) in Turin a few days later, and then schooling Newcastle in the FA Cup final....you would NOT have expected us to boss you ??!!!
Bayern should have been thankful Paul Scholes and Roy Keane were NOT in the starting lineup, and that was the main reason why Bayern got their chances in a central midfield that was David Beckham and Nicky Butt with Giggs and a certain Jesper Blomqvist on the wings.
Patched up midfield + Bayern's more or less full squad = theoretical convincing win odds for Bayern % football destiny = Treble
Those two near-goals aside, Schmeichel was at his usual best, he kept us in the game with his saves to the extent that when he came up for the first corner, 6ft 4in that he is, Bayern went "wtf?!" and 3 seconds later Sheringham equalised despite all of Bayern's men being in the penalty box.
Lothar was probably saying "Wtf Bayern!! DAMN YOU EFFENBERG !!!" (and the humble Matthaus and the egotistical bad boy Effenberg HATED each other's guts too) and cursing himself why he couldnt be out there and grabbing his defenders by the ears.
Then a few seconds later a peach of a corner, great flick on by Sheringham and Solksjaer just poked and wala....Muharram came early for a shattered Kuffor...he couldnt believe how his defence couldnt stop that.
A healthy dosage of Luck and a mixture of never say die never hurt anybody except the losint team...otherwise penalty shootouts are 100% pure luck arent they That's why, with that logic, Arsenal did not deserve to win the 2005 FA Cup against us, and neither did Portsmouth beating us in the QFs of it this year.
But that said, Bayern deserved to go through for not giving up despite a 1 man advantage for 113 minutes.

for all u know buddy and tell this to that writer friend of urs, man utd was only able to beat us when they had roy keane and paul scholes missing! so bayern was anything but thankful that scholes and keane werent playing, man utd was thankful!
when they played, they couldnt beat us even in manchester!

and penalty shootouts arent 100% luck. keeping the nerves, professionalism, goal keeping skills and other factors all play a role during penalty shoot outs, but then again, wat would a lucky team know about anything other than luck?

Well fair enough...United had a really poor start for 1998/99, winning something like 2 in the first 5-6 games of the season, so no surprise .
But no excuses, Bayern's dominance in the 1970s after Ajax was fully deserved....and we HAVE to win it more than those effin 2 times to justify ourselvessigpic
