    Yashar Jan,

Porto has certainly not done badly in the past 7 years in the CL, have they? They won under Mourinho and have constantly produced talented players who were swooped up by different, more attractive teams.

With Bayern, I'm astonished at how they treat their talents - poldi being a prime example. What is the difference between him being able to perform so well internationally, but when it comes to Bayern, he just doesn't have it?

I don't like to say Bayern ruins players, because that'd be a far stretch, but they are certainly 2nd class when it comes to grooming players (maybe with the exception of Lahm).

Personally, I do not like German football at all, as there is a lack of creativity in general and although it stings, I must say I'm quite happy for the Champion's League that Barca will progress.

No offense to the Bayern fans here!

podolski couldnt accept the fact that he was 3rd choice behind toni & klose and rightly so, both under hitzfeld & klinsman!

he wanted more play time, so we had no choice but to let him go and guess where he opts to go, back to FC KOLN!

these 2 reasons make me believe that podolski was more at fault than bayern, not to forget how podolski slapped his captain ballack in german national team some time back.
his attitude is not professional at all and is a spoilt brat in my opinion!

as for grooming players, well we need to have high potential yougnsters to make good players out of them.
lahm & schweinsteiger had great potential and have turned out to be very good players and i think rensing will be a very good GK in the near future for germany as well.
and then we have some average players like lell and ottl that dont have enough potential but we are still giving them play time.

bayern management didnt go out and purchase a good GK when kahn retired and insisted that they are gonna invest in rensing as their first GK.
schweinsteiger made his way through the youth as well.

lahm also our youth player but we loaned him out for more lay time because we had 2 top quality fullbacks during his youth times, lizarazu as LB and sagnol as RB, both on top form.

but podolski and schlaudruff for example, we have toni and klose (and makaay before them) who have been scoring machine past 2 years, i dont see why they should be benched so that podolski or schlaudruff should get some play time when the team is competing for championship!
if podolski would be able to do better than either of toni or klose, u think he would have been benched by both hitzfeld and klinsman?

as for the whole porto thingy who btw usually all they do is qualify from the group stage (they did manage a surprise by winning the trophy in 2004 but how did they do the next season?), u really think the budgets dont make a difference and are just an excuse?
if spain had a salary cap like germany, u think players like henry would come to spain when they could get paid much more in england or even some italian teams like inter or milan? same with messi, etoo and other players who are now top quality and are able to get top quality money in spain unlike in germany!

if its so easy to play so good with a much lower budget (as some friends here have mentioned porto as an example), then how come its not a norm in football? then how come their own teams are not doing it with a lower budget?

          NOTHING SAID!
nope actually I said something, don't try and make up stuff to defend yourself.

Let's see you defend yourself against the 5-1 loss at Wolfsburg, at least Madrid is making up for the CL loss to Liverpool by owning in La Liga. Ribery is the only player at Bayern that should get credit for anything, and he still was struggling at Barcelona.

we played a poor game and we lost to wolfsburg. there is nothing to defend.
this is football and happens to all teams!

madrid owning la liga? owning la liga is wat barca is doing trashing all the teams not madrid who struggles to win against most teams and somehow manage to win 2-3 games with a high margin!

and casillas is the only player at madrid that should get credit for anything and he was still struggling at liverpool!

              Bayern reeling after horror show

Bayern Munich have been made painfully aware in their biggest hour of shame that they are light years away from the top table of European football.

Having been crowned champions of Europe four times, Munich still consider themselves a big player on the continent.
But they were brought down to earth harshly in Wednesday evening's (Thursday morning AEST) 4-0 battering in Barcelona, and a debate swiftly erupted as to whether the players or coach Jurgen Klinsmann, or both, were to blame.
Munich knew from the outset they faced a tough match at Europe's form club as a 5-1 league defeat at VfL Wolfsburg last weekend had shattered morale and the absence of key defenders Philipp Lahm, Lucio and Daniel van Buyten came at the worst possible time.
But no one had imagined that Munich would let themselves be led like lambs to the slaughter against Barcelona's trio of Lionel Messi, Samuel Eto'o and Thierry Henry who scored all goals in the first half.
"Bayern taken apart" titled Kicker sports magazine on its front page while the Bild daily questioned Klinsmann's future: "Bayern's night of shame. Klinsi close to the sack."
Bayern have lost big in the past just like many other top clubs, clobbered 4-0 by Ajax Amsterdam in the 1973 quarter-finals and crashing 5-2 against a new Ajax generation in the 1995 semis.
They were comprehensively outplayed on both occasions, but at least offered resistance which was painfully lacking in Barcelona and led to a general feeling of shame.
"We are a proud club, and this pride was trampled on, at least in the first half," said Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge at the post-game banquet with Klinsmann and the players looking down the ground stone-faced.
Bayern's French playmaker Franck Ribery left the pitch in tears after the final whistle and Rummenigge revealed that he had seen former Munich (and Barca) coach Udo Lattek crying as well.
Munich president Franz Beckenbauer spoke of 'a catastrophe' and 'the worst half I have ever seen from a Munich team'.
Beckenbauer had earlier in the week also suggested that Klinsmann will be measured by his success, annoying Rummenigge and general manager Uli Hoeness with this statement.
Rummenigge said at the banquet that officials would not rush to a conclusion.
While the media was buzzing with rumours that Klinsmann's days could be over before the next league match on the weekend against Frankfurt the coach insisted at Barcelona airport that he wants to carry on and declared the Bundesliga title 'a must'.
The former Germany coach Klinsmann took the Munich job last northern summer. He revolutionised training methods but had to back-peddle on team tactics in an inconsistent league season.
Some in the German football community refused to put the blame on Klinsmann alone, saying that Ribery and Luca Toni alone could not carry a team of below-par quality against Europe's best.
Further investment in players is needed in an effort to climb back on to the continental throne they last occupied in 2001.
The most pressing position is that of goalkeeper with Michael Rensing not living up to the expectations as the successor to Oliver Kahn. He was axed for the Barcelona game by Klinsmann who fielded veteran Hans-Jorg Butt against Barca.
Not surprisingly, Bild has linked Germany's best goalkeepers Robert Enke (Hanover) and Rene Adler (Leverkusen) with a move to Munich.
For Rensing, the place on the bench turned out to be blessing in disguise as he told Bild: "I was relieved after the first half that I wasn't on the pitch. We were lucky that Barca then stopped playing.
That spared us a double-digit result."

Or, as Spanish sports daily Marca put it: "With a little more pressure in the second half Barca could have inflicted a demolition of scandalous proportions on Munich."

we are after Arsen venger supposedly!

                          both ardy & armin's rumours i saw on goal.com.
arsene wenger would be a great signing but i doubt we will get him. he is too committed to arsenal.

as for buffon for ribery? i dont know...on one hand, buffon is a great keeper, can give toni some italian company (which means we should kick oddo back to milan) and has 1 or 2 more good years in him.
on the other hand, ribery is really the heart of the team now and replacing him will be almost impossible. however, we have to keep in mind that trying to keep ribery in bayern is gonna be very difficult and the maximum he will stay with us is till 2011 which is 2 years. so at best, we can use ribery for 2 years, maybe even less than that, but if we take the deal now, we are sure to keep buffon for another 2 years or maybe a bit more....

its a tough situation to be in, bayern management has to try and see if they can find a replacement for ribery, and if they do, then let ribery go and bring in buffon.
afterall, ribery isnt really known for his loyalty to any team!
