    CR7 takes PFA Double awards

    http://home.skysports.com/list.aspx?...kes+PFA+double

Manchester United's Cristiano Ronaldo has been named both PFA Player and Young Player of the Year.

The Portuguese winger was widely expected to take the main award and his remarkable season continued as he scooped both awards on Sunday evening at the Grosvenor House Hotel.

Ronaldo becomes only the second player in history to achieve the remarkable feat, the other being Sky Sports' own Andy Gray - who won both awards some 30 years ago in 1977.

Ronaldo held off competition from Chelsea's Didier Drogba in second and team-mate Paul Scholes - who came third - to take the main award. Steven Gerrard, Ryan Giggs, and Cesc Fabregas were also in the running.

Ronaldo succeeds Gerrard and is the first United player to take the Player of the Year prize since Ruud van Nistelrooy in 2000.

In contrast, it is the third year in succession that a United player has taken the Young Player of the Year award - with team-mate Wayne Rooney winning the honour in 2005 and 2006.

Rooney was up for the award again, but he was beaten by Ronaldo as he also held off competition from Cesc Fabregas (Arsenal), who came second, and Aaron Lennon (Tottenham Hotspur) in third.

Micah Richards (Manchester City) and Kevin Doyle (Reading) were also up for the award.
    TAKE THAT !!!

Now he's gonna be frontrunner for FIFA World Player of the Year 2007 award too

    he deserves it.

but there is still a lot in him, he has not even reached his prime at 23-28 years yet.

      Exactly

The thing that he needs to keep in check is his temperament both on and off the pitch. He shouldnt get carried away by these awards, as the real deal is bringing United the success it has been needing since 2003. He needs to maintain focus on the task ahead and behave appropriately in public - although to be fair he hasnt had that many controversies outside the football pitch.

He can become the next George Best or maybe even better than El Beatle himself, but we all know Best was known to be a party lover and that ultimately shortened his career as well as damaged his health. He needs to take care of himself, and I feel Sir Alex Ferguson has made sure he does that.

2006/07 has been a year where Ronaldo has shown maturity never seen in the seasons before this. He truly deserves it, and here's to him making United bring more success both as a player and as a team man.

That was a different era mate and 11 years ago and its totally irrelevant. When are we comparing CR to Ronaldo ?

i just said it because you said hell win POY in 2007. but hes not as good as ronaldo was when he won it so that wouldnt make sense. plus, they have the same name.

              Again totally irrelevant

No comparison whatsoever between both Ronaldo except both speak Portuguese and both have a common part of their names. Neither was the same player - both have flair and skill yes, but their roles have always been different. While CR7 is reaching the very top, Ronaldo is on his final stretch of things as he has done it all (well except win a Champions League medal as of yet in his career so far )

regardless of what Ronaldo achieved 10 years back, CR7 will win the World Player of the Year for 2007...mark my words
