    United vs Milan: fan interactions

We all witnessed an intense game last night between Milan and United, to which I was a part witness off (and felt the stadium shake when Rooney made it 3-2) but I couldnt witness all the crowd atmosphere and action because of work

The best part for me actually happened after the game when I finished work. Because of security reasons, Milan fans were kept in the stadium till most of the United fans had left, and when they did leave then Milan fans chanted in the empty stadium and it was nice looking at them, although they were mostly quiet when the game was on.

next was coming back home at 10:30 PM on the tram. There were United and Milan fans together in the tram and they were competing with each other singing and chanting their hearts out, but with no physical or verbal provocation.

Although one Milan fan wanted to start a YNWA chant, but he kept quite coz I think he remembered what happened to them the last they heard that chant from someone's mouth

It was so nice and fun that I also sang along United fans in the tram from praising O'Shea's runs down the wing, to reminding Milan fans of Wayne Rooney to the old usual chant of telling Man City to fck off home Its unfortunate that I dont know Italian as I could have started a Nerazzuri chant, but the Milan fans were up to it and sang their hearts out as well.

It felt so nice caught between a friendly yet passionate chant contest. I am glad that both sides had a mutual respect for each other and no crowd trouble was encountered at all.

Truly touching and heart warming. I love this game and the fans. Respect and happiness for all.

    Glory Glory Man United

I actually saw Man City's Micah Richards in our corridor attending the game...although I failed to recognise him first and it was only when I saw a couple of my fellow workers having pictures taken with him and them telling me that it was in fact Micah Richards that I felt embarassed (much to the amused annoyance of a lady fellow worker who supports Man City ) as I was so preoccupied with United being 2-1 down that I didnt seem to notice at all.

However there was one angry fan incident when Kaka scored that one of the security steward supervisors along with two of my colleagues cheered loudly and jumped with joy that it pissed off a visibly upset middle-aged United fan and he got in his face and started heckling the poor lads for 'being Italian yet working at Old Trafford etc etc etc' for a few not-so-pleasant minutes. There was nothing physical though.

Ultimately he was led away by the security staff and by other embarrassed United fans back to his seat and he didnt bother us again after that.

They did however remind the staff members to not cheer loudly for the other team when United fans are around as it will upset them seeing people working at Old Trafford and doing the exact opposite, but United fans are generally very good natured yet passionate for their team.

It was indeed taha...some of the chants I sang along (though I didnt know many) were:

Glory, Glory, Man United (to the tune of 'Glory, Glory Hallelujah')
        Glory, glory, Man United,
        Glory, glory, Man United,
        Glory, glory, Man United,
And the reds go marching on, on, on...

The White Pele (to the tune of 'Tom Hark' by The Piranhas)this was repeated a few times
I saw my mate the other day,
He said that he'd seen the white pele,
So I asked, "Who is he?"
He goes by the name of Wayne Rooney.
Wayne Rooney, Wayne Rooney, goes by the name of Wayne Rooney.

When Johnny Goes Marching Down The Wing (to the tune of 'When Johnny Goes Marching Home Again')

When Johnny goes marching down the wing,
        O'Shea! O'Shea!
When Johnny goes marching down the wing,
        O'Shea! O'Shea!
When Johnny goes marching down the wing,
The Stretford End are gonna sing...
"We all know that Johnny's gonna score"
La, la, la, la.. la ,la la.. la, la,
        La! La!
La, la, la, la.. la ,la la.. la, la
        La! La!
La, la, la, la, la, la, la,
La, la, la, la, la ,la la...
"We all know that Johnny's gonna score"!

We Won It Two Times.... (a swipe at Liverpool's euro glory years that witnessed Heysel)
        We won it two times,
        W e won it two ti-i-imes,
        Without killing anyone,
        We won it two times!

Oh Merseyside Is Full of Sh*t - (to the tune of 'When The Saints Go Marching In')
        Oh Merseyside! (Oh Merseyside!),
Is full of sh*t, (is full of sh*t),
Oh Merseyside is full of sh*t.
        It's full of sh*t, sh*t, and more sh*t,
Oh Merseyside is full of sh*t...

and of course the old favourite
U-N-I, T-E-D - (to the tune of 'Nick Nack Paddywack')
        U-N-I, T-E-D
United are the team for me,
With a nick nack paddywack, give a dog a bone,
Why don't city f*ck off home.

Bear in mind, my lack of understanding of Italian made me not remember the Milan chants used but one I can easily recall goes something like "Ole Ole...Ole milan Ole"
