3 goals combined at the wc not quite prolific? but I think Toni is amazing by himself without Gila who is pretty good but not even of one the top 12 strikers in the world.

your right besides toi plays better as the lone forward with totti behind him then a strong midfield of pirlo gattuso perotta camoranesi

I must say: Cole-Yorke for United; Morientes-Raul for Real; Maradona-Valdano for Argentina in 1986; Rivaldo-Ronaldo for Brazil in late 1990s; Crespo-Batistuta etc are some of the very best striking duos ever
        I'll have to agree there.
Inshallah next season Owen - Martins will be a good one if we manage to keep them.
In the Asian Cup i hope we have someone who can be a good partner to Hashemian (Borhani, Nikki, Kaebi!!, Enayati, etc...).

bro italian strikers dont really fit into this poll... however, if it was defensive duo im sure italy would be on top.

i really like the italian forwards; Toni, Gilardino, Totti; but they tend to play a 1 striker system

That's true. plus, Italy hasn't been relying on only-strickers-score system for a long time. in the WC 11 players out of 23 players of Italy scored! amazing!

I don't like any of the above duo's, but if I have to choose, I'll choose Crespo-Saviola.

Trez-Henry is good too, not very effective though.

this makes sense. since italy is overall more of a defensive team, it is only natural that they have 1 striker and cannot rely on the striker to score every game. therefore players from other positions score.

Italy is not really not defensive but actually been very balanced in recent years. If you compare them with Argentina(11 up until QF) and Brazil(10 up until qf) but italy up to qf had (9) so they were playing very intelligent football attacking with precision and effiecency and playing defense with organization and wit.

italy is simply the best TEAM right now in the world. That is why they won the world cup; so evenly balanced. They are like the pistons of soccer. No real SUPERSTARS, just a lot of very, very good players like pirlo, del piero, totti (well, one superstar, so i guess they are more like the spurs), toni, Gilardinho, Gattuso, oddo, cannavaro, grosso, zambrotta, camaronesi, the list goes on. No weak points, just great all around, and it shows. And they dont need to rely on one player
