Totti Promises Return To Azzurri Squad

Exactly a year after announcing that he will take a long break from the world cup winning Azzurri side, Francesco Totti has decided that it is time to make a comeback in the most important phase of the Euro Qualifiers.

This was reported by the daily Italian newspaper 'Il Messaggero', who quoted Totti as saying that after the summer holidays, he will respond to the call-ups of current Italian national team coach Roberto Donadoni.

"I'll go for a holiday and then I will call (Gigi) Riva," declared the Roma player who has turned down all call-ups since the world cup final.

"I'm ready for the important matches of Italy," confirmed Totti.

This will be an important boost for the Azzurri who will be facing Ukraine and Scotland away from home, and hosting France in the coming months.

actually, i've been waiting to see totti back in the squad, and its great to hear he's there and ready to be called upon

he was simply GREAT this season, seems to be flourishing as he keeps getting older

The odd disciplinary issue aside, he always has been a great player. I think the lack of going to Italy NT games and concentrating solely for Roma did the trick and he has been exceptionally on fire this year.

I think Totti's rather poor WC (mainly coz of lack of fitness) got to him and he needed a time out to rediscover himself and be the man. Well now he is.

That would be fantastic. However i never really see good games from him in the national team. He's awesome in club level though.

Also, doesnt he have personal issues with Donadoni??

he only cares about roma and not his country. he scored 26 for roma this season but not even 10 for italy.

This is also probably his best season ever so I'm excited to see him back for Italy.

                  good news

Totti is one of the only superstars out there loyal to club and country.
