Every world cup there has to be an african suprise package that makes it to the next round. It brings exitement and a dark korse into the tournament. Last time it was Senegal and they had a freakish team that beat the world champions in the opening match of the 2002 WC. They were unlucky to lose out to Turkey in the quarter finals.
This time round the best team from africa was the Ivory Coast; african runners up and possesing some of the greatest talents today such as Drogba, Toure and Kone. But they were unlucky as they were in the group of death with Argentina and Holland which was always going to be a tough ask. If they had an easier group I gaurantee they would have made it to the last sixteen.
The way Ghana went to the last sixteen was dodgy in my opinion. I watched the highlights of the match between the us and ghana. The penalty that was given was a joke!! It was clear that FIFA wanted an african team to enter the last sixteen, and the last team with a chance was ghana.
And what bothers me now is that people believe they are the best team in africa.. BSSHIITT.
I watched them play Australia in London earlier this year with their FULL TEAM and they were very average to be frank. Australia absolutely dominated them in posession and play. Ghana was lucky to come out of that game with a draw and should have lost by about 2 goals. Watch that game and you will know what I mean.
To be honest had we played them with their full team a few weeks ago I think we could have beat them, their nothing special. Ivory Coast is the real deal in africa, you will see about that in the near future. And when Nigeria and Cameroon get their act together again ghana will go back to their inconsistent ways , I cant believe they call themselves the Brazil of Africa.. how arrogant!!
