congrats Pharaoh! I thought Egypt played a decent game but their defence was rather weak against a weakened Cote D'ivoir..

Thanks guys. I'm definitely pleased with the result, especially considering we were missing a few starters, and played almost the whole match without Mido.
It's funny... Ivory Coast easily played their best match of the tournament so far, despite missing a few players. And they needed to play well as they were looking to do anything to avoid Cameroon in the quarterfinals; the Lions have flat out owned them over the years. Every team in Africa tries to pack the defense and counter attack against us. Thankfully, that wasn't enough for the Elephants. They sure as hell are scary, pacey bunch on the counter though.
Our defense did look suspect at times. Speed and strength the likes of Ivory Coast's will do that to you though! They don't quite have the touch however IMO.
6 goals for, 1 against, and winning a tough Group A... I shouldn't complain.
The biggest question mark is whether or not we can remain consistant, especially with the depth of this year's Nations Cup. I'm really excited about our chances though.
Insha Allah

Definitely saw that. That's very typical of him by the way. People were in an uproar when he was even chosen on the team. He's done a ton for Egypt (probably through motivation to do well for himself) but MAN is he selfish. People are still wondering why he came into the match and not Amr Zaki when Mido picked up the injury. Hossam did have a decent match though.. but hopefully his services will not be needed again.
We could use Mohammed Zidan right now.. he scored yesterday for his German club.

Originally posted by Shahin Kyou know what is funny, when Egypt was playing Marocco, Zidan was playing Bayern at the same moment! why didn't he play in the African Cup? kinda lame.
He also said something that wreeks of jealousy recently. Something to the affect of, "They go and visit Mido and watch his performances in England.. why don't they visit me"?
