Where: Dizin, in the Alborz Mountains, about two hours' drive north of the capital, Tehran.

When: December until just after the Iranian New Year (21 March). Weekends (in Iran that's Thursday and Friday), see Tehran's cool, nouveau-riche hit the slopes.

What's hot: World-class powder up to 10ft deep, thanks to the altitude (3,350m) and the resort's north-facing slopes. Fantastic Persian food. Cheap - a day pass for the 12 lifts serving the 16 runs costs $4. Off-piste guide: $5-$6 per day.

yeah I was there in winter 2001, It was my first time I skied..after an hour I got the skills and it was soo fun!

I went there last season, i posted this thread before aswell,,

Iran actually have 2 Ski Resorts in the top 10 in the world and another 2 in the top 20,

Shemskak,Dizin,Tochal are all Worldclass tourisnt ski attractions,
Expert skiers visiting these resorts said the snow was 1 of the best in the world

Tochal is very nice, its like a city, Hotels,houses,Many resturand and shopping strips,,

Its amazing how a country like Tehran in the middleeast can boost to have some of the best s***esorts in the world,

And also Tochal has the Tallest lift in the world aswell,

Yeah I have done it one time in my life but it was so cool! We went with our class to Germany to sky there. Maybe I will go on a sky vacation once.

Mmmm...not sure i thought because it was Skiing it was sort of relevant to sport.

http://www.skifed.ir/ is the Iran Ski Federation site its really good and its got some good info aswell.

The resort is to host two international grass-skiing championships in 2006 and 2007.
