China as hosts (that's why they didn't bring their A team). Lebanon and Korea go into qualifying trounament.

I guess this proves that we iranians in fact are good at teamwork.
We are asian champs in basketball and no. 3 in the world in youth volleyball.

But the essentials for succes have been missing in football. We need a top international coach and young and hungry-for -succes players that will give all their best for the team + a real team spirit amongst the players.

What I personally think is missing in football, with all due respect, is EDUCATION. Our basketball and volleyball players are averagely much better educated and from higher social classes than our football players and that helps them a lot.
Look at the succes that Ali Daei has enjoyed. It is undoubtedly in part because he is well educated.

Anyways a BIG CONGRATS TO OUR BASKETBALL PLAYERS.

I hope we very soon see a couple of them in NBA. That would be supercool.

how about futsal?!! That is our best sport.

The reason why our football is not good is because football in Iran has a big market and it is currupt. Small sports like basketball and volleyball have less athletes and are better managed therefore we are able to achieve things more.

I hope all our sports achieve success and Iranians become proud.

              EYVALLAH

I was in a Arab shop (that sells Iranian products, because Iranian stores are way to stingy) and on Algazera it showed Iran smash the opponent. I was sooo happy.

basketbal is to me the second most universal sport after futbol. I am shocked to say the least and I am super excited. I hope we do not face the USA because they will hand us a new one.
