Actually times are a little different now. Americans are catching on kinda but the blame is on the sports channels like ESPN that dont talk about it.
See its all about the money, all the sport channels show whatever has the most money in it. Its not only soccer they dont show but there are lots of other sports that they dont show...volleyball, gymnastics, wrestling, track&field, etc...
btw, american football is forced down on them. Not too many people are into it, there are the hardcore fans and everyone else just tags along cuz of drinking and bbq on sundays.

Most people are casual football fans and are there for the ambiance. Generally you have someone throwing a football party on Sunday, people come over to drink beers and have some good BBQ. Now soemone like me that is not the case. I grew up with American football my dad even played college football back at MSU. He even won a national championship as their kicker back in 1966. He is hardcore about football and that is kind of where I get it. I guess he passed on his football jeans to me and thats' why I just love it.

The problem with the NHL is that Americans complain, "You can't see the puck well on TV." NHL is catching on and now it's getting big in So Cal now that the Ducks won. It still takes a back seat to the big three
1-American Football
2-Basketball
3-Baseball
The MLS is still doing decent for only being a decade old. I still don't see soccer as passing those three sports in this country in our lifetime. The thing is that advertisement plays a big role in it. You can make money in football, basketball, and baseball because of advertisement. When there is a timeout you go to commercials which is why there is money to be made in the big 3. You can't do that in soccer and that is A HUGE PROBLEM.

haha yeah and that's why watching football(NFL) is so gay and boring, because there is like a commercial every 5 seconds, they come back from commercial the guys does a kick off then goes back to commercial then comes back the QB takes a snap and they move the ball then back to commercial its like so boring and stupid

oh yeah hockey is growing in southern california big time now since the ducks won it.. i'm a hockey coach and this summer we have had so many new beginner kids signing up to play hockey and they are from like ages 4 and up

the goal wasnt that good. beckam is just there ffor publicity. u shoulda seen his first game which was against Chelsea (friendly) the whole crowd was full andd people like Arnold Schwarzaneger, Katie Holmes and a lot of other actors and 'important people' were there with a full crowd and beckam only played 15 mins and did nothing. Its true they r giving him a lot of money but i think its worth it if so many people are gonna go to the stadium to see beckam play.

The game stops every 5 seconds and they get sooo happy when a pass is complete. LOL that shit happens every second in soccer and its not a big deal and its even harder cuz you have to control it wiht you FOOT.

lol on NBC ray ferraro and brett hull always argue. they can never agree, if one says yes i think this team will win, the other will no matter what has to go against him, its funny.
but with our new logo, its ok, the shark looks more angry/tough. but i dont know why they brought in the orange. and the shark is weird too, th head is teal and the body is like navy blue

haha i don't know, but i think it looks better then the old one. have you noticed not just in hockey but whenever a sports team has changed their logo or redesigned their jerseys they have had a pretty successful season. like the ducks last year and i can't think of any other team right now. but yeah i just wanted to bring that up.

i hope the leafs will do well this year. i'm not so happy again with their off season signings. jason blake is ok, he is a fast skater but not really a goal scorer, so yeah i hope at least they'll make it to the playoffs. and sorry that the leafs signed sharkes back up goalie Vesa Toskala

dude that broke my heart when we traded him, i was so pumped for the draft and i see we trade him and bell(i dont care bout bell, im happy we got rid of him) then we got ninth pick, and could have pick Cherepanov, some russian kid, but we got some other dude instead.

i think blake will fit right in as a first line LW. as for the sharks, nabokov is very inconsistant, and if he is on a cold streak, i have no faith in our back up

They like high schoring and action which is why American Football and basketball is so popular. Even baseball is mor popular with the recent steroid surge that is giving the sport a black eye, but there is more offense and home runs so that puts people in the seats.

It is very rare to find some American that will watch like the US Mens National team qualifying games for the world cup. They will watch the world cup but THAT'S ABOUT IT.

why do american like sports with 10 seconds of action, 5 min break, 10 sec action, 5 min break... etc.. thats so much more boring.
