36 year old utility man Phillip Cocu is on the way to the UAE after signing for Al-Jazira Club.
The veteran ex-Oranje star spurned the chance to finish his career at PSV Eindhoven after rejecting offers of a new contract.
Instead, he will act as playmaker for the Abu Dhabi-based club, who play in the UAE League Division 1 (Etisalat League.)
The club has never been champions of the national setup, but has played host to other world talents such as George Weah.
Cocu's signing is still considered a coup. The Eindhoven-born player received 101 caps for his country over a decade of play, and has lifted the Dutch Championship trophy on four occasions.
After starting his career at AZ in 1988, he moved to Vitesse Arnhem two years later and spent five seasons with the yellow-and-blacks.
Afterwards, he signed a dream contract with hometown club PSV, winning his first Dutch cap in 1996 and his first Dutch title a year later.
Following his showings in the 1998 World Cup, he was on the way to Barcelona to team up with coach Louis van Gaal, and enjoyed a long career as a defensive midfielder at the Nou Camp, lifting a Liga Championship trophy along the way.
Finally, he returned to PSV in 2004, his parting gift being, in effect, another Dutch title after securing a goal-difference title win over Ajax after scoring against none other than his former club, Vitesse.
