Iran is using a young squad with mosto of their senior players cut off the team because the coach wants to build a strong squad for the future and this tournament is used for Experience.!!
apparantly Iran has sent a young and inexperienced team to these championships just to gain experience. The team that wins it qualifies to the olympics but there will still be other competitions for other teams to have a chance of qualifying.
He wants to give his players experience to qualify from the other tournaments..!!
So as a Volleyball fan, Am not taking these losses in a negative way Because we have 1 of the best coaches in the World of Volleyball
the new senior TM Volleyball coach ,Gaayeech گاييچ is from Serbia.he is considered to be one of the top 5 coaches in the world by many.he won the Gold medal with Serbia in Sydney Olympics and has done very well with various teams since then.(Srebia,Turkey,Russia,Greece)
the Federation has hired him to build TM for the next Asian Cup & the 2010 London Olympics.he selected a pretty young squad for these games.some players like Mousavi are from the Youth team.and Gaayeech has even mentioned the possibility of bringing some players from the World Champions Boy Youth team (no javanan)
btw,the current team will play a few more matches in this tourney, and it has a good chance of making it to the 2008 Peking Olympics Qualifications tourney,to be held later on in Japan.

Excluding China and Japan, top two in this championship earn berth to take part in the FIVB World Cup which will be held in Japan in November 2007. 12 teams will participate in this World Cup. Host Japan, 5 continental champions, 4 continental runner-ups and 2 wild cards. Top three from this World Cup will qualify to the 2008 Olympics.
Then again excluding China and Japan, top 4 from this championship qualify to the 2008 Olympics Asian Qualifier which will be held in Japan in May 2008.
Beside the above 2 ways, there is no other route to advance to the 2008 Olympics. It is hard for Iran to qualify to the FIVB World Cup because top two excluding China and Japan are very likely Australia and Korea. But Iran can qualify to the Asian Qualifier as the third or fourth team excluding China and Japan. Iran, Thailand, Indonesia and Chinese Taipei are competing for the 3rd and 4th place.

Sorry, Australia is the champion because in a later match, Thailand unexpectedly beat Japan 3 - 0 (25-20, 25-20, 25-23).
China, Japan and Korea all have 5 wins 2 losses but after calculating points, Japan is 2nd, Korea 3rd, China 4th.
Iran is 5th with 3 wins 4 losses, Thailand 6th with 2 wins 5 losses followed by Indonesia 7th and Chinese Taipei 8th (both 1 win 6 losses).
Australia and Korea qualified to the FIVB World Cup to be held in Japan in November 2007. Australia, Korea, Iran and Thailand qualified to the Asian Qualifier which will be held in Japan in May 2008.
Japan automatically qualified to both events as host. China directy qualified to the 2008 Olympics as host.
