Nothing like a dose of Pak club football

Wow for a league game that's impressive in Pakistan or most countries for that matter. Although probably the free factor played a role in it.

Correct, also because this was the first time league football was telecast live on national television so that garnered some interest for starters in Pakistan. Plus this was the final between the local Bazigar team and Islamabad.

Another factor, is that this stadium is located in a truly football-mad locality of Karachi known as Lyari Town. In fact this small part of Pakistan has consistently provided players for the national team as well as the government departments' sports teams that have helped many a sport to survive in Pakistan as well as football.

In fact the Geo Super Football League isnt even the proper national league of Pakistan. The 50+ year old National Football Championship (now called Pakistan Premier League) is the actual league which is made up of a few city clubs and department sports teams. Hell the Pakistan Army team have won the league consecutive times in the past 2 seasons.

The SFL can be considered a media gimmick for football's promotion and coverage here based on an inter-city rather than inter-department league format.
