Sir Alex helped Aberdeen break the Old Firm dominance in Scotland and were the dominant side there in the early 1980s, hell they even won the Cup Winners' Cup and the Super Cup (beating Real Madrid

The reason Sir Alex has been the best, is because unlike other teams in which coaches have been dumped for one or two poor seasons or too much politics back stage, he has stood out in leading United in good times and bad. He revolutionised the youth setup and a young team that won the Double in 1996 which Alan 'Scouse head' Hansen had said after one bad game at the start of that season "You never win anything with kids".
Again look at my previous post in this topic, and do the math. Maybe two or three more European Cups would have been good enough to pwn all other coaches Then again, we at United believe that the League is our main ambition every season, other trophies are a bonus.
