[QUOTE=mf_doom;807888][QUOTE=Pharaoh;807713]If the college thread is 25 pages deep I know there's gotta be a few NFL fans in here. So the first two weeks are already in the books... The Packers, 49'ers, and Cowboys are all 2-0 and O.J. Simpson has been arrested. We're back in the mid 90's .
Here's how I'd rank them through two weeks:
      1. New England, (2-0)
Cheaters or not, Brady and his new toys will be hard to stop all year. Belichick's defense is stout as always, and Wes Welker may prove to be the most underrated free-agent pickup of the year.

      2. Indianapolis, (2-0)

Just barely got past Tennessee; an underrated team in their own right. Expect the Colts in the top 3 all season long.

      3. Pittsburgh, (2-0)
Roethlisberger loves flingin' it around in this new offense. Santonio Holmes has emerged as a viable option opposite Hines Ward. Coach Mike Tomlin inherited one of the league's fastest, most aggressive defenses and has done well to avoid taking over the reigns from Dick LeBeau.

Whoa whoa whoa. Lets bakc up here. While they look ALRIGHT they arent even close to being in the top three. They beat the Bills and Cleveland. The Nfl Whipping boys. Dallas has beaten better or comparable teams by a wider margin.
Well you're comparing teams 3 and 4 on the list, so conceivably it's interchangeable. But.. the Steelers convincingly beat both of the teams in front of them. And one of said NFL whipping boys just put up 50+ en route to a win over the Bengals. The Steelers are a more complete team, and don't have the questions on defense that Dallas does.

Bro the Bengals have a garbage defense, I would say they have the worst defense in the NFL, everyone knows that.

The point is they're better than either of the teams that Dallas beat, yet the Browns beat them and the Steelers thrashed the Browns. Do you think Dallas is clearly better than Pittsburgh at all?

Honestly I can't make a fair analysis because we are only in week 2. To me the regular seaosn does not tell you anything about a team. Remember last year the San Diego Chargers got the #1 seed in the AFC by going 14-2. They got knocked out by the Patriots in their own home! Part of this was due to the fact that the Patriots had much more playoff experience than the Chargers. All the regular season does is just establish who goes to the playoffs, and what your seeding is. The playoffs is what seperates the contenders from the pretenders. Once it's playoffs time I can answer your question after I see how well Dallas or Pittsburgh perform in teh first round. For now I'll leave it at WE SHALL SEE.

If I were to give an honest assessment, I woudn't ranke the Pittsburge Steelers #3. Honestly I think the Patriots, the Colts, the 1-1 Chargers and the 1-1 Chigaco Bears are better than the Steelers right now. You got to factor in other things like the Chargers lost to a very good NE team away, and the Bears lost to a very good Chargers team in SD.

1-I would have Pittsburgh in the top 10 though that much is for sure.
2-I think Big Ben is going to rebound from last year after that terrible motorcycle accident. Personally I think they rushed him in the starting line up last year.
3-The Steelers WILL make it to the playoffs because they have a good defense and a good running game. They might even o far because that is the formula for success when you are in the playoffs, playing in a cold game that perhaps it might be snowing. If you got ot play @ NE or @ Denver in December, you better know how to play good D and run the ball because you are not going to be able to air it out!

Actually my favorite player is Tim Brown as well. In face my number was #81 back in high shcool when I played for the #1 ranked Mission Viejo hi because of Tim Brown. On defense I would say Howie Long is my all time favorite Raider. The guy just bleeds sliver and black man. Both of those plaeyrs were true Raiders because they worked their a$$ off. My favorite QB in my lifetime is Rich Gannon. The dude didn't have the biggest arm strength, or Michael Vick like speed, but he showed so much heart and intelligence my friend.

Lets face it the Tom Brady has all day to throw because of their good o-line. This works for a player like Randy Moss who likes to go for the deep ball. With the Raiders last year, every time Andrew Walter said "hike" the defense already penetrated the line.

Dallas signs an excellent defensive tackle Tank Johnson. Since December, Johnson has gone from star tackle on the NFL's best defense to being unemployed and suspended. He's also spent two months in jail because of weapons charges, both new and old, and seen a friend get shot and killed. He is still going to serve an eight game suspension in which there are five games left, but you are getting a world class defensive end. If he doesn't break any laws, man this could be a steal for the Dallas Cowboys, and the just got that much better.

Dallas adds another player with character questions. He's talented, but is it worth it? I'm on the record as saying the Dallas implosion will begin during the second half of the season, though they'll have a good record by the time that starts. With questionable guys like Owens and Johnson on the roster, a happy-go-lucky coach like Wade Phillips is bound to lose control of that locker room eventually.

I don't think Tank Johonson is quite in teh level as a say an Adam Pacman Jones. I think he just made a terrible mistake but deep down he's a good guy. Evne Brian Urlacker said, "many players visited him in jail which shows how popular he was and he will be missed." Now if Tank Johnson was an a$$hole or constantly got into problems with the law, I would say don't sign him. This just already makes Dallas that much stronger adding another pro bowler.

Persian Godfather- Dallas is good and they might even go to the Super Bowl but I sitll think they are a few notches behind several AFC teams such as the Patriots, the Colts, or the Chargers. Those three teams should have no problems beating the Cowboys. They improved a lot but they are not quite there. Remember this is the same team that limped into the wild card of the Playoffs, and lost to the McNabb less Eagles. Of Course Jeff Garcia played his heart out and basically went 5-1 to push the Eagles into the playoffs.

I still think the Chicago Bears are the team to beat in the NFC.

You know I had the Cowboys as the surpirse team this year to make it to the Super Bowl. I like the weapons they have on offense ie Tony Romo, Julian Jones, T.O etc and they have playmakers on defense as well like Williams. Adding Tank Johnson to their roster is just going to make them that much stronger. If they can beat "DA BEARS" this weekend they should be the NFC favorites. This game will tell us a lot about Cowboys because we will find out if they are contenders or pretenders. I happen to think they are legitimate contenders for the Super Bowl as I even pointed that out to Shahouman on PFDC chat before the season started.

Are they playing in Dallas or @ Chicago?

On another note the 49ERS lose LB Manny Lawson for the rest of the year. That should be a blow to their defense that is not good news for any 49er fans.
