    Diego-The next Kaka???

I dont know how many of you have seen the kid play. In the champions league match against Real Madrid, he was pure quality. He took on players, showed great skill, great pace. The goal and nearly every attack that Werder Bremen had was only becoz of him. In the bundesliga highlights I see his great passing and play making aswell. For a while i have kept thinking of him as the next Kaka and now its on Goal.com:

    here is the article:

    -----------------------

Madrid Director Deems Diego The New Kaka?

Spanish sports daily Marca claims that an unnamed Real Madrid director has urged president Ramon Calderon to move mountains to sign Diego of Werder Bremen (pictured), the Brazilian midfielder being dubbed "the new Kaka"...

Marca claims that an unnamed Real Madrid figure has urged Ramon Calderon to complete the signing of Diego of Werder Bremen.

Madrid made an appraoch to the German club this summer for the attacking midfielder, only to be rebuffed, but their interest is all but dead, at least according to the Spanish press.

Apparently, the words, "The presidentmust sign Diego, he is the new Kaka," were uttered in the Bernabeu directors' box during last week's 2-1 win for Real Madrid over Werder in the Champions League.

The director, or directors, seemingly are enchanted not just with the player's undoubted skill, but his price tag. Calderon has a well-known Kaka obsession, but he would need to surely pay a ten-figure sum at the moment to land the midfielder.

At a quarter of the price - or 25 million euros - Diego is seen as something of a bargain. And, indeed, one that, in different circumstances, may already be a merengue.

Marca confirmed that Madrid were poised to move for the player as early as April, their initial approach being turned down by Werder Bremen, but that sporting director Pedja Mijatovic was on the verge of returning for a second try.

But by late August, the director's interest had waned due to alleged disciplinary problems with the player during his time at Porto. (According to Marca, there was no issue, other than Porto playing him out of position.)

In his natural position at Werder, Madrid seem to be captivated.

he is truly a great player, the only problem is his height but the rest he has got everything skill, pace and great ball control and anticipation in attack.
and against real madrid he was very good but i can't really imagine him as a new kaka, kaka is just brilliant.

    GRACIAS PEP

Diego is a great player, but he has his own style. I'd say he'sthe next great Brazillian mid, not "the next Kaka".

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Diego was supposed to be the next big thing in Brazil and at youth levels he was apparently a better player than Kaka who had good looks on his side instead. But things change as one gets older, Kaka got Milan, Diego got Bremen. The gulf in class between these two teams in terms of coaching and style is pretty damn obvious.

Height means nothing in soccer. Only for headers and such it does, look at Maradona, greatest ever but he was a shorty.

All three Diego, Robinho and Kaka were seen as great talented players in Brazil. Diego and Robinho got more media attention but Kaka was seen as a great talented player too and when AC Milan bought him he was already playing for Brazil.
