Football is the nr1 sport in Germany and I doubt the number of Germans not watching the world cup would be comparable to the nr of Ozzies watching the WC.
It wouldn't be fair on the other nations who love football. I reckon a country like Peru or Iran deserve to host this competition more than Australia.
And the only reason football is the most played sport in Australia at grass roots is because of the ethnice minorities that make up the game.
I also dont agree that Peru or Iran deserve it more. Australia is a high enough ranking team. They are a sport loving nation and they have the resources.
If South Africa, S Korea and USA get the world cup. Why should Australia not be eligible???

the usa being the powerhouse they are get to do whatever they like.
These ethnic minorities are the ones playing the game while the ozzies call it 'wog ball' . Let me ask you this how many of the australian members of the national team have ethnic backgrouds?!
thought so
dont try to fool members on pfdc into thinking australia is a football loving nation when medias and other leagues alike try to discredit the game to protect their own codes, it is infact the opposite.
so on the contrary it is you who is being stupid

where do u live bro??
as for members of Oz who are ethnic.
Viduka, Kalac, Popovic, Cahil,
Most of these guys are born in Australia though. Thats not really ethnic is it??
The people who think they can dis-credit it are the same ppl who are racist and small minded. This is a very very small amount of ppl.
By the way. S.Africa loves football more than Australia?? how would u even know that man. They have cricket and Rugby just like Australia does.
Did u see the stadiums in the T20 World Cup?? Australias division 2 cricket clubs have better facilities.

i ussually hang around the middle easterners or wogs in my school and everytime we play soccer with the ozzies they kick, push, shove and tackle like its afl or rugby and start fights and they say its a sissy sport for soft people, that is ur typical grass root soccer player,
the australian soccer federation is really trying to make soccer a popular sport in australia by making the new league, building staduims, advertising (have u seen the weat bix, milo...ect ads) to make people think that soccer is a popular sport in australia and every one should play it and the kids that play soccer are under the influence of these advertising.
look at thier club thye have so many brazillian players but they leave because the league is soo crapI got no time for a signiture

Originally posted by Prince of Persia View PostPersian is an ethnicity, Iranian is a nationality, i.e. where you live, so no, your technically Australian not Iranian. Don't get confused between ethnicity and nationality. When people say where you "come from" their referring to your ethnicity, given that your born in Australia. There's nothing wrong with saying Iranian BTW, but not all Iranians are Persian.

LOl Australia are probably gonna win the bid with all the facilities it has. From the point of Stadiums i think Sydney + Brisbane/Melbourne together will have enough stadiums to host the whole thing.
But yeh here hardly any Aussies know any of the rules of football. All they care about is Rugby and Afl and i dunno-('pretty sure golf, swimming, tennis, basketball, cricket are all more important here than football).
