Ronaldo dove many times before and STILL does
Apart from yesterday's foolishness, havent seen any in which he actually dove since last season in mid 2006 otherwise I would have confirmed it

and yes Drogba does tend to refrain from it now since middle of last season, but he carries a bad repute regardless. Same thing with Ronaldo, that bad repute remains.

if hes not being protected by the referee, getting fouled and accused for diving every time he goes down then why shouldn't he? everybody has their eyes on Ronaldo because hes the best, i mean look at what Eboue did today during the boro game he should have been sent off twice but no one notices that.

Guys... there isn't a club without a diver out there, that's a fact.

But C.Ronaldo takes diving to an entirely other level. Seriously look at this video, he has his own DIVING techniques.

thats right just like the english national team.

we saw how good henry was in the epl and now that he is la liga he is not the same player.. tells you something about the level of competition

                  Hmm....

90-95% of those dives are before the 06/07 season (a few are proper fouls on him too) where yes he did his bid in giving himself a bad name (2006 WC being the most ridiculous) but he is a changed boy as I said before and he has refrained from diving as much as he can, but that doesnt stop defenders from whacking into him and kicking his legs because he is unstoppable if they allow him even a yard extra.

No excuses for that dive either....he is a rather greedy sod I agree

Ronaldo would be a beast in La Liga where folks are allowed acres of space as defenders dont close players down as quickly and aggressively as they do in the Premiership. He has actually matured into a player that has a good shot, crosses the ball well, can get predatory goals, and is brilliant in the air too.

The reason Henry hasnt been as awe inspiring in La Liga (or France) compared to what he was at Arsenal is quite simple - he isnt their main 'pass the ball to him' player as he was at Arsenal - for France it was always Zidane doing the brilliance while Henry was confined playing up front way too much for what he got at Arsenal where he was everywhere on the pitch.

Also at Barcelona, when Ronaldinho, Deco, Eto'o and Messi are the folks running the creativity (esp. Messi) that also confines Henry to a limited role up front. Also since he started getting injuries one or two seasons back, his form has dipped considerably too.

The Brazilians are masters at taking a dive and that's why as much as I hate them I was glad that the French knocked them out of the WC.

On the diving issue... I think the fact that players are being literally abused by defenders is a bigger issue than diving. I mean that's how diving evolved, when players are chopped down most refs only give a yellow or warn the defender, so it seems like there is a movement to dramatize fouls to make defenders pay even more for their BS.

I know a guy who went to try out in Europe for different clubs. He said there are actually players who work together to potentially end someone's career by giving them hard fouls and then moving up the ladder themselves. Quite disgusting.

they should have a committee that looks at career ending tackles and take appropriate action against whoever committed the harsh foul.

Its a world cup...scoring a winning goal is supposed to mean scary and funny celebrations

Observe Marco Tardelli scoring Italy's third goal against West Germany in the 1982 final which Italy won
