man screw americans canada is taking over the MLS.. toronto FC in their first friggin year sold out every single game and the fans were AMAZING!! 10X better than any other fans in the entire league!! its soo boring to watch their away games cuz theres no1 there but i cant miss the home games!! if every team in the MLS had the support TFC had then it would be soo much better

TFC finished dead last last year nd their entire 2008 season sold out in a couple days

      Yes.
I went to Sharif University. I'm a superior genetic mutation, an improvement on the existing mediocre stock.

        spot on..!
like i said earlier they need to get the average American kid excited about watching soccer games and the only way that can be accomplished is through tv exposure..! most people here get passionate about a sport when there is huge hoopola and media coverage around it ...! i right now the general media writers, announcers and tv personalities mostly discount soccer as a girl's game and poke fun of the legitimacy of the sport every chance they get and so the viewers and the american public follow it..!
the reason they do this is very simple....MONEY..! Unlike football, baseball, basketball, and etc sports, Soccer doesn't have many breaks in action, where broadcasters can use the time, to advertise and get rich out of..! and hence they dont want it to really become popular where they are forced to televise a soccer match due to public demands..! hell they hardly accepted the coverage for the World Cup....much less the MLS...! I remember the first time that i saw wc games on american tv..wc90 i think and even in 94 they used to just leave the game and go to commercial breaks every 5-10 mins..!
then they tried putting a small commercial window on top of the game broadcast, then they had advertisement writing scrolling constantly up or down the screen..! and all that was unsuccessful as it made the fans more and more irritated at the brands advertising than the opposite..!

tbh, the level of play on the pitch last year improved dramatically over the past few years..! and right now the quality of the competition on MLS is well above IPL..!! the Beckham hoopola helped the league's recognition, news coverage and legitimacy a loooooooooooot..! far beyond the huge amounts they spent to acquire his services..!

like i said if the league is able to break that tv barrier and be able to get the main stations to televise a game or two a week, then the american fans will follow suit, especially if they continue to build more and more soccer specific stadiums and the more they change the format of the completion to more resemble the European leagues..!

btw, did you know that all the players in the MLS are owned and paid by the league itself..!!? the teams just get to manage them ..!
