"Bayern is as good as it gets"

    Question:
I'm exceptionally happy about it and I do feel honoured. It is a special constellation, and it's similar to the one I experienced three and a half years ago when I took over as coach of the German national team. There are only a few possibilities to work at such a high level. Bayern belong to the Creme de al Creme of world football, and in Germany, they are as good as it gets!

    Question:
How long did you need to think about accepting the offer to coach the team?

Klinsmann: The decision was made very quickly. I asked my wife if she coulds imagine moving to Munich, and she replied that she could imagine doing that. Additionally, my son Jonathan was born in Munich ten years ago. It's an emotional story. And of course I do have a certain relationship with Germany.

    Question:
Which goals will you pursue with the record German champions?

    Klinsmann:
Bayern always have the highest expectations, and that's the way things are. I'll try to achieve everything, and that is what makes the challenge even more interesting, exciting and fun. It's also fascinating that I won't be working with just German players, but also several top international stars.

Question: How do you forsee your work at Bayern?

    Klinsmann:
I'll continue the work I started while I was coach of the national team. I will have a team of specialists, and together we will ge the best out of our players.

    Question:
    What is your coaching philosophy?

    Klinsmann:
I will try my best to improve every individual player, and in turn, that will imrove the team. Working with the national team was completely different. As Head Coach at a club you work with the players on a daily basis; you have more possibilities to influence things.

Question: Who will be your assistant coach, and who will be in your coaching staff?

Klinsmann: I already have a mental short-list of candidates for the coaching staff. It will be made up of international people, some from the US, and some from other countries. I want to build up a lot of positive energy, in which the players will have a lot of fun and in which everything will be built around them.

Question: Whilst with Germany, you could always return to the US after matches. Now you will be constantly in the limelight. Do you expect any problems?

    Klinsmann:
I don't see any problems; I have learnt from my spell as German national coach, especially the stressful situations during the World Cup. I now know how to build up a team, and how to lead it. I am convinced that I can be successful.

Question: How will the coming months pan out for you?

    Klinsmann:
I'll keep out of things until July 1st. I wish Ottmar Hitzfeld all the best. I will watch the game against a Chinese XI on Saturday, after which I will fly back to America. I will then have a few months in which to hold some talks, and plan and think things through.

me too, i think klinsmann needs a national team or a bigger club. Bayern definitely isnt as good as it gets, that may be Barca, ManU, Real, AC or even Liverpool and Chelski

for any major power in europe you only are "as good as it gets" if you win the champions league every year. Anything below that means there is room for improvment

I hate the club with all my heart, but at least they know the scum that match their club.
