VfL sign one of Japans best

Hasebe is moving over from the Urawa Red Diamonds

VfL Wolfsburg have acquired the Japanese player Makoto Hasebe. The international player (six international matches), signed a contract good through 2010 and just celebrated his 24th Birthday on January 18th. Hasebe is the first Japanese player to wear a VfL jersey. His number will be 13.

"It's an honour for me to have the opportunity to play in Wolfsburg. The Bundesliga is a top league. I will practice and play very hard, so that I can strengthen my team. I would like to develop more in Germany", said Hasebe at a press conference on January 19th.

Best right footer in the league

In the absence of Felix Magath, who was sick, VfL's managing director Wolfgang Hotze presented the new player to the public.

Hailing from Shizuoka,Japan Hasebe turned pro when joined the Urawa Red Diamonds in 2002 and then went on to become a force on the team. In 2004, he was voted the best right footer in the league.

    Only Iran is the best.
I went to Sharif University. I'm a superior genetic mutation, an improvement on the existing mediocre stock.

i posted something about this a couple of days ago. can't really say much about him though since i'm yet to see him play. but if he's so great why did he not even make the asian cup squad? and he is not a regular with the national team either...

i don't think they've officially signed him yet because he was at a training camp with the national team but he wasn't chosen in the final list for the 2 upcoming friendlies, i'm guessing coz he has to go and sign the contract..

another young japanese player, keisuke honda, has gone to vvv venlo in holland.
