Real Madrid Match Is The Most Important For Sevilla - Jimenez

The coach has admitted that Barcelona were just too good for his side but said that he wants a response this weekend...

Manolo Jimenez has acknowledged that Sevilla's defeat to Barcelona was a "black-mark" and said that he hopes his side will respond against Real Madrid tomorrow.

The Andalucian team were outplayed by the Catalans and suffered their third straight league defeat to severely dent their hopes of finishing in third place.

Now though, with Madrid coming to the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, Jimenez wants his team to show that they are capable mixing it with the best.

"We have the desire to get an important win for our fans. We are aware that Madrid are in good form and that they continued against Getafe, but now is the time to respond because teams are catching us in the table. This is the most important game," Marca quotes him as saying.

With regards to the loss against Barcelona, Jimenez reconised that they were "perfect" and are a team used to "passing around everyone", but did not avoid some self-criticism.

"We did not play as we should have done against that opposition, there were lapses. I hope that we put more pressure on in this match," he explained.

The coach predicted that the clash with Madrid will be "even" although he believes that Sevilla can beat anyone.

"It is a meeting of two large teams and, if we are at our best, we can beat them, for sure," he declared.

Finally, Jimenez admitted that they want to win the game against Madrid for the fans, who he knows will be behind the team.

"They are wise and know that we are in the final phase of the season and that we cannot let another opportunity slip through our hands. We all know that the fans are with us," he concluded.

I'm really sick of this whole "Barca equivalent" thing. It's absurd because our players are a class above Madrid's. Like Dani Alves said, unless RM shop at Barca this summer, they won't have the best players in the world. They're all here.

Btw Milad, have you heard of the Camp Nou pact. We beat Valencia for Sevilla, Sevilla beat RM for Barca. And if Barca win the Clasico...Party at the BERNABEU baby!!!

You scratch my back, I scratch your back.

I think you are ignoring that Barca just dominated them. Do not confuse 'did not try' with 'got totally owned'.

Barca is a much more intimidating team now, and players will get more nervous and commit more errors against such a side. In addition, every barca player can virtually score and they play great.

you can say 'they didn't even try', but there is absolutely zero proof and at the professional level, it just doesn't make sense.

it's simple - barca was just too good. obviously, as a RM fan, praising barca is too difficult (understandable) so you have to look elsewhere and make excuses for their unbelievable results.

i'm more of a neutral. i don't care really either way who wins la liga - i'm a die hard roma fan.

i generally like teams who play good football, even if they end up losing (like Roma, and minus Iran )

the unlucky injury-crisis-en route to making the league out of our hands is ALMOST over. we just need barca to tie ONE game (not including the one against us, but that is a do-or-die match for us) and we need to win every single game. its possible.

Aziz, I'm a fan of football. I follow all leagues and choose to stay involved in Real and Barca as much as I possibly can.

You are driving the conversation beyond the initial argument, where we spoke about:

                                a) It was a matter of Barca OWNING Sevilla
                                b) It was NOT a matter of Sevilla bending over, because such bribery only happens in the Italian league

Real, no matter what happens, will be second best to me in quality of football this season. That is not to say they are out of It this season nor that next season, they will create an atmosphere equal to or greater than Barca of this season.

But right now, in this present moment...

                                Barca > Real.

It hurts, I'm sure, but that's just the way it is.
