damn injuries strike again. poor guy was injured for most of season, came back, and just when he was about to get better hes injured again. he didnt even get to play half the season. guti heres your chance. but i dont want guti as center mid because whenever hes on we concede. either pure attacking mid or bench. we should use vdv... he was initially bought to replace sneijder so we should use him now. but again hes more attacking and cant really play center mid and link up with lass. but i know juande will use gago and play with 2 dms again.

The Dutch midfielder has been ruled out for up to six weeks, effectively drawing his 2008-09 campaign to a close.

Wesley Sneijder looks set to end the season the same way he started it, as a second-grade torn hamstring in his left leg is expected to keep him out of action for the remainder of the term.

The Dutchman, who missed the opening six weeks of Real Madrid’s campaign due to cruciate ligament damage in his knee, suffered his latest setback during Saturday’s 1-0 win at Recreativo Huelva, when he came on as a substitute on the hour mark but had to be stretchered out in agony in the final minutes of the game.

After conducting tests on Sunday, the club have confirmed that he will be sidelined for up to six weeks, although his doctors are hopeful that if he can recover just as quickly as he did earlier in the season, he might return for the team’s final game against Osasuna.

Sneijder’s injury will open the door for the unsettled Guti to restake his claim for a permanent place in midfield in the starting XI. The vice-captain will be available for selection for Tuesday’s clash against Getafe after returning from suspension.
