Real Madrid Match Is The Most Important For Sevilla - Jimenez
The coach has admitted that Barcelona were just too good for his side but said that he wants a response this weekend...
Manolo Jimenez has acknowledged that Sevilla's defeat to Barcelona was a "black-mark" and said that he hopes his side will respond against Real Madrid tomorrow.
The Andalucian team were outplayed by the Catalans and suffered their third straight league defeat to severely dent their hopes of finishing in third place.
Now though, with Madrid coming to the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, Jimenez wants his team to show that they are capable mixing it with the best.
"We have the desire to get an important win for our fans. We are aware that Madrid are in good form and that they continued against Getafe, but now is the time to respond because teams are catching us in the table. This is the most important game," Marca quotes him as saying.
With regards to the loss against Barcelona, Jimenez reconised that they were "perfect" and are a team used to "passing around everyone", but did not avoid some self-criticism.
"We did not play as we should have done against that opposition, there were lapses. I hope that we put more pressure on in this match," he explained.
The coach predicted that the clash with Madrid will be "even" although he believes that Sevilla can beat anyone.
"It is a meeting of two large teams and, if we are at our best, we can beat them, for sure," he declared.
Finally, Jimenez admitted that they want to win the game against Madrid for the fans, who he knows will be behind the team.
"They are wise and know that we are in the final phase of the season and that we cannot let another opportunity slip through our hands. We all know that the fans are with us," he concluded.
