Apparently his life since his retirement wasnt exactly stable. Alcohol abuse, trouble in marriage and even unemployment at one time. Now he works as a sort of amatuer coach for Bayern.
But as a player 'Der Bomber' was the most lethal genuine striker ever in football history - no one was close to him esp. in Europe in that regard. Throughout his career at Bayern and West Germany he averaged more than a goal per game when he was at his peak.
