Former England, Newcastle, Spurs, Rangers, and Lazio favourite Paul Gascoigne has been arrested under the Mental Health Act after causing disturbance in a luxury hotel in his native town of Gateshead, Newcastle.

The poor lad was perhaps the most God-gifted English footballer to have emerged in the late 1980s but his personal problems, alcohol abuse, troubled marriages, and controversies have left Gascoigne a troubled and pitiful shadow of a man and player he could have been. Self-destruction is his middle name
