This year it will be for UEFA Cup, next season onwards the Cup winners from all the main UEFA nations will compete in CL qualifying rounds.

Although there is a debate that maybe Cardiff City, being a Welsh club unaffiliated with the English FA but playing in the Football League, may not be allowed to take part if they win the FA Cup. Although UEFA has said they may give Cardiff City a wild card to compete.
