            It has never been Sweden.

Canada has always produced the greatest # of decent hockey players, and Russia has produced some of the most talented.

If you can name 10 great Swedish players, I can name 50 great Canadian players. Most of the NHL is Canadian, frankly if you think the US has a chance over Canada or Russia you probably don't know much about hockey.

Take the World Cup of hockey where Canada and others come full force, Canada has won 5 out of 7.

And even in the IIHF they've received the most gold and have won 44 medals out of 61 competitions. Not to mention they're the reigning champions.

Nonetheless, Swedish players have done really well in the NHL this year (unlike the better Canadian players, I say better because it's in some ways a Canadian league) and a lot of them are out of the playoffs, so Sweden no doubt, is a contender.

So with players missing Canada has the best record and full force, they just dominate (5/7), they are always the favourites, it's preposterous (insulting even) to not include Canada as one of the favourites to win.
