His coach recommended that he didn't drive home, but he decided to anyway. On his way up north he died in a car accident in Chalous.
The reason why it was of great significance is that he was very young (only 26), he was crucial player in the team and was a good friend with many of the guys as this team grew up with eachother. His brother Samad is also a TM player and is up with the best players in Iran. Because of how close Aidin was to the team, his brother and their success it has affected Iran a lot.
    RIP Aidin
WOW, thanks buddy. Truly a sad story to lose someone with so much hope in a country that has so little of it. I hope our TM can recuperate and win some games in China in his honor

whats more important is the progress rather than the result.

It doesn't matter if we lose by 100 points in these games as long as we take somthing out of it at the end of the day.

i know its a 21 point loss, but its still not that bad considering italy beat the united states not too long ago.

i honestly thought we were going to lose by 40 points or something.

These matche's will build our team into a strong team that will be capable of pulling upsets in the Olympic's i am sure.

We should be happy we have such a great preperation toward's the Olympic's
If they can get these matches and learn from them we will be a good showing in the Olympic's and prove to the World we are a fast coming power in the sport for the future..

Good luck Iran, And these friendly's are not result orientated...
And thank the federation for such a Brilliant Preperation plan towards the Olympic's

they were only down by 5 at half time (41-46) the boys are improving! keep in mind this is the first time in recent history iranian basketball is competing with teams of this caliber on the international stage.

This wasn't even Italy's A squad, but rather an "experimental" selection:

Our defence is ok. But our offence needs to improve, we didn't even reach 70 points in either game.

                        // 28 May 2008
Impressive Italy showed their battling qualities by fighting back from a five-point deficit at half-time to defeat Iran 84-67 on Tuesday - their second friendly win over the FIBA Asia champions in as many days.

Angelico Biella's Daniele Cinciarini followed up his 13-point showing in Monday's 77-56 victory with a team-high 20 for the Italians.

He scored eight in a decisive third-quarter spurt which saw the Azzurri take control and lead 64-58 with 10 minutes remaining.

An 8-1 Azzurri run late in the fourth gave Italy a 78-61 advantage and they cruised over the final the final three minutes.

Italy coach Carlo Recalcati said: "It's been a game decidedly different from the first.

"The attitude of the Iranians, they were certainly more competitive and thus it was a real test for us."

Cinciarini is certainly doing his chances of making this summer's national team no harm.

A virtual unknown outside of Italy, he averaged 9.1 points and hit almost 40% of his shots from three-point range during the Lega A campaign.

On Tuesday, he buried four of five shots from behind the arc.

Italy, the silver-medal winners at the 2004 Olympics, did not qualify for this year's competition.

They will instead play in EuroBasket Division A against Serbia, Hungary, Finland and Bulgaria and attempt to reach next year's FIBA Europe Championship in Poland.

we were only down 6 with 10 minutes remaining, thats still pretty good against a team like Italy eventhough its not there A team

In answer to some of the earlier comments, it really isn't rare in basketball to play against the teams you'll play against in the tournament beforehand as a friendly. I know in football it is unheard of!

I think it was their full squad, besides 2 players who are still in Spain.

it doesn't matter , clearly it was a good test for the team.

and its shocking to hear that italy wont be in the olympics considering they got silver last time!
