Iran basketball team lost to Italy

They lost 76-55, which may not be a impressive score but lets remember this is the first time in years that the basketball team is playing a solid European team. Italy is ranked 7th in the world.
Next we play Italy again, and then Croatia and Algeria, then the team will later play friendlies against some of the teams participating in the Olympics in Beijing.
Little by little, hopefully this team gets better.

This still isn't good enough. We need to cut the deficit against these big teams if we are gonna have any chance by the time of the olympics. Would have loved to watch that game!

The death of Aidin Bahrami has had a huge effect on the team, of and on the court. He was top 3-4 in the team. Lets hope the guys can come back and play good at the olympics.

How did the game against Australia go?

mkbf2, basically what happened to Aidin was that after a league match for his team Saba Battery vs Pardis, they had won but Aidin was supposedly tired and had injury. His coach recommended that he didn't drive home, but he decided to anyway. On his way up north he died in a car accident in Chalous.

The reason why it was of great significance is that he was very young (only 26), he was crucial player in the team and was a good friend with many of the guys as this team grew up with eachother. His brother Samad is also a TM player and is up with the best players in Iran. Because of how close Aidin was to the team, his brother and their success it has affected Iran a lot.

              RIP Aidin

                ^^

Exactly, its so sad. His fiancee was in the car and died aswell.

Irans coach has expressed that the team is having a hard time emotionally and also on the court, because they cant find a good player as Aidin in his position.

Iran has alot of good games coming up against the top teams in the world. They couldnt have a better preparation than this. I wonder why our football team cant have the same preparations.

                  Italy - Iran, May 27
                  Iran - Croatia, May 29
                  Iran - Algeria, May 30

                  Australia - Iran, June 16
                  Australia - Iran, June 18
                  Australia - Iran, June 20
                  Lithuania - Iran, July 13
                  Argentina - Iran, July 29
                  Iran - Serbia, July 30

No they aren't. The olympic games starts August 10th. Iran has their first match against Russia. And a few days later against Lithuania and Argentina.

Yeah they are. I guess both teams want to get a feeling of how the other team is playing. I would say its to our advantage, as we have much more to learn than they have.
