SPL is Celtic and Rangers ONLY. It has been, and always will be ONLY Celtic and Rangers. The rest are just making the numbers up and some sides are not even League One quality.

Hearts had a chance in the past 2 or so years to break it when they were taken over by a few rich Russian-Lithuanians but they went off-track due to a poor relationship between the club board and the manager George Burley over interference in team and transfer affairs and he left the club just when Hearts had 10 unbeaten games under their belt in the start of the 2005-06 season. All went downhill as the club officials feuded and Hearts became stuck where they were despite the money. The did however win the Scottish Cup in 2006, but their challenge for the SPL has since faded miserably.

Here are a few interesting stats about the SPL. Since the first season in 1890, Rangers have won 51 league titles (the first team in world football history to win 50 league championships) with Celtic on 42 titles.

Next in line ? A tie of FOUR league titles each for Edinburgh clubs Hearts and Hibernian, and Aberdeen - 3 of Aberdeen's league titles were won when Sir Alex Ferguson was manager which also included the 1983 Cup Winners Cup when Aberdeen beat Real Madrid 2-1 in extra time

someone who played in both leagues saying which one has weaker defense:

          Torres: Premiership Defenders Are Dodgy!
Spanish super-striker Fernando Torres has risked becoming public enemy number one amongst opponents next season by publicly ridiculing the ability of Premiership keepers and defenders. He also raised eyebrows by suggesting that Chelsea stars Petr Cech and Ricardo Carvalho are two of the only people in England's top division who really know how to keep the ball out of the net.

^^ Why hasnt he mentioned the defensive pairing of Rio and Vidic - two people that had Torres in their back pockets for 180 minutes - baffles me

Then again, not every team has a Rio or a Vidic in their side
