Russia were outdone, outpassed, and outmatched by Spain. Really calm, cool, and crisp approach to football by Aragones' men. Didnt rush but just kept the ball and were solid at the back. Russia defeated Sweden and Holland when they started to exploit some panic within the opponents ranks and nailed the games. Today they were frustrated and kept off the ball a lot by Spain and they easily won it.

germany will win it, they were here to win it and they will. they have it in them, even with dumb & dumber in their defense and DUMBEST in their goal!

spain is a great team however, and unlike many people, i think its the midfield which the opponents should fear, not their offense line.
if germany convert their chances like they usually do and are efficient enough like always, they will win the game, no matter how much ball possession or shots the spanish will have!

Metzelder Wants Spain In The Final

Real Madrid and Germany defender Cristoph Metzelder is hoping his side meet Spain in the final of Euro 2008 on Sunday...
Germany face off against Turkey in the first semi-final this evening, with Spain facing Russia tomorrow.

The final is on Sunday, and Metzelder is hoping the two favourites emerge victorious, which would allow him to play against the country in which he plays his club football with Spanish champions Real Madrid. Should he get the game of his wishes then he will face off against club team-mates Iker Casillas and Sergio Ramos.

“We are the two favourites," Metzelder told Real Madrid's official website. "Spain have a very strong team with a lot of quality and Germany have many strengths as well, above all when it comes to our mentality.

“I would love to play against Spain in the final.

“First we have to beat Turkey and then hope Spain beat Russia and we can look forward to a great game.

“Spain is the place where I now live and I have a very special relationship with the country.”

Of tonight's game against comeback kings Turkey, the towering centre-back said: “We know it will be difficult because we are facing a team who will keep on going until the very last minute."

Spain Are Self-Destructive - Metzelder

Germany defender Cristoph Metzelder is looking forward to the Euro 2008 final against Spain, who he believes lack the mental strength go all the way...
The towering centre-back made his intentions clear before the semi-finals that he wanted a Germany-Spain meeting in the final, with Germany of course being his country and Spain being where he plays his football with Real Madrid.

Following his side's fortuitous win over Turkey and Spain's demolition of Russia, he has gotten his wish, and will face team-mates Iker Casillas and Sergio Ramos on Sunday evening in Vienna.

While Spain are in better form, Germany have the track record of proven success throughout footballing history and particularly in this competition - which they have won three times and made the final of five - while Spain have been in just two finals and won one, the second ever Euro, in 1964.

This will be Germany's sixth final and Spain's third, which says something about each country's pedigree on the big stage. Germany are almost guaranteed to be there or thereabouts as they continue to produce strong teams and pass their winning mentality from generation to generation while Spain, despite being incredibly talented, have often fallen short in major tournaments.

La Furia Roja have never won World Cup or even reached the final four - aside from one third place finish in 1950 - while their aforementioned Euro record is not much better.

Metzelder remarked: "I know the Spanish have real respect for us, but there is a self-inflicted trauma in the team.

"It has taken them decades to move beyond the quarter-final of a tournament and that could be a factor.

"They will respect that, but this is a big game and big games have a different set of laws."

He also explained how well his side were prepared for the task at hand, adding that he will freely give up any inside information he has on opponents if asked: "We have been watching all of Spain's games for the last three years.

"Our senior analyst travels to Spain regularly to watch them play and we trust what he has told us.

"If I am asked any questions about them, I will be happy to answer, but there has been no need so far."
