    Official Beijing Olympics Thread

Okay, the olympics are around the corner. I thought we would start a thread about what Iranian athletes have already qualified, and the best chances for medals at the games. Also, who will be the flag bearer?

and i swear if bob costas says anything about axis of evil in the opening ceremony this year i am going to kick his ass

50 Iranian athletes are already qualified and be sure we have a wild card entry in Swimming. (50+1=51)
and we can win some places in Athletics and 1 place in Archery.

    ------------------
    by Sport

    Archery - 1
    Athletics - 4
    Basketball - 12 (team)
    Boxing - 3
    Cycling - 3
    Judo - 6
    Rowing - 2
    Table tennis - 1
    Taekwondo - 3
    Weightlifting - 3
    Wrestling - 12

    --------------------

chances for medals (in my opinion):

    Athletics:
Ehsan Haddadi: he is big favorite for olympic gold

    Boxing:
Morteza Sepahvand: he reached quarterfinal at WC !
Ali Mazaheri: he need two wins for a medal ! he is World number 3 at AIBA World Ranking

    Judo:
Masoud Haji-Akhondzadeh: 5th place at Athens , he can beat everyone
Arash Miresmaeili: double world Champion !

    Taekwondo:
    Behzad Khodadad: ex-World Champion
Saei or Karami: both of them can beat everyone

Apparently due to the stupid rules set for the Olympics, only Saei or Karami can go, and Saei just beat Karami in a playoff which means no karami in the olympics.
