Its becoming more and more obvious: The NBA is rigged

Well now we know that the Lakers can thank atleast one of their Championships, 2002, to "help" from the league's higher powers:

    http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/playof...hyStern-080611

And here's a notable part of Donaghy's allegation on how the ref's essentially won Game 6 of the 2002 series between the Lakers and Kings for the Lakers. The Lakers ultimately won Game 7 and ended up winning the NBA finals that year.

"In the letter, the following "manipulation" during the Lakers-Kings series is alleged: "Referees A, F and G were officiating a playoff series between Teams 5 and 6 in May of 2002. It was the sixth game of a seven-game series, and a Team 5 victory that night would have ended the series. However, Tim learned from Referee A that Referees A and F wanted to extend the series to seven games. Tim knew referees A and F to be 'company men,' always acting in the interest of the NBA, and that night, it was in the NBA's interest to add another game to the series. Referees A and F heavily favored Team 6. Personal fouls [resulting in obviously injured players] were ignored even when they occurred in full view of the referees. Conversely, the referees called made-up fouls on Team 5 in order to give additional free throw opportunities for Team 6. Their foul-calling also led to the ejection of two Team 5 players. The referees' favoring of Team 6 led to that team's victory that night, and Team 6 came back from behind to win that series."

    The Game In Question

Shaquille O'Neal scored 41 points and pulled down 17 rebounds as the Lakers forced a Game 7 in the 2002 Western Conference finals. Recap

Although no teams are specifically named, it is not hard to deduce the game in question. The Lakers-Kings series was the only one that postseason that went seven games, and the officiating in Game 6 was so questionable that consumer advocate and former presidential candidate Ralph Nader called for a formal investigation.

The Lakers attempted 40 free throws to the Kings' 25 in that game, and Los Angeles made 21-of-27 from the line while Sacramento converted 7-of-9 in the fourth quarter alone.

In addition, a foul was called against Mike Bibby of the Kings after he was shoved and elbowed by Kobe Bryant, denying the Kings an opportunity to try for a tying basket. Also in that game, Divac and Scot Pollard fouled out, and Kings coach Rick Adelman was highly critical of the officiating afterward.

"My first thought [upon hearing Donaghy's allegation] was: I knew it," Pollard said Tuesday night. "I'm not going to say there was a conspiracy. I just think something wasn't right. It was unfair. We didn't have a chance to win that game."

An interesting observation I noted the other day: Out of the 5 major sports in the United States, 4 of them have a Jewish commissioner:

    1. NBA - David Stern
    2. MLB - Bud Selig
    3. MLS - Don Garber
    4. NHL - Gary Bettman

Only the NFL's Roger Goodell is not Jewish.

ok so its obvious you are not a laker fan. I just thought you are a kobe hater only.

I rather listen to ahmadinejad than tim donawhats his name!!! The matter has been STRIPPED by the FBI and they couldnt fond any wrongdoing. If the league wanted the lakers to win a championship, they woulda called tons of fouls on tayshaun prince, ben wallace and rashed in the 04 finals which they didnt. Same with the forst 2 games (especially the 2nd game) of the nba fnals this year. case closed. The guy is going to jail he is desperate to lessen his sentence

Are you really going to deny any NBA wrongdoing just to protect a shady Laker's win from 5 years ago?

Put it this way, do you think Donaghy would lie about something like this under oath and risk tacking on more years to his sentence? Common sense and pure self-interest would say no.

And no one is saying the league wanted the Lakers to beat the Pistons. All that is being alleged is that the league made sure the Lakers won Game 6 against the Kings so there would be a Game 7, thus high ratings and more money in their pockets. It just so happens the Lakers won Game 7 and made it to the Finals. This is about Game 6 ONLY. Whatever else may have happened we have no information on. Atleast not yet.

oh man please dont say that!!!! That was EXACTLY what I was thinking when the refs were just handing the game to the celts in the first 2 games. I was thinking they want the celts to be the defending champion and go against the improved lakers in round 2 next year. I hope we are both wrong

You got it wrong. He has already said these things during his interviews and interrogations previously. It just so happens that him and his lawyer decided to publicize these allegations before his sentencing as retaliation against the NBA for putting in a $1 million claim of restitution against him last week, in an attempt to act like they were victims of Donaghy. All his lawyer did was to go to the courthouse and publicly file the documents, so everyone would have access to them

So its nothing new, just a payback tactic against Stern and the NBA for their recent restitution claim.
