i want to ask your opinions on both of these but didnt think it was worth opening two threads, especially with all the euro threads we already have.
Part A: All throughout portugals games and spains game, along with the postgame and pregame talk, all everyone talks about is how great the teams are on offense but how they have defensive liabilities. Combined they probably have mentioned this in some way at least 100 times...OK, we get it, spain and portugal are weak on defense. But who has a strong defense? Who are the best defensive squads in the world that spain and portugal should hope to be if they want to have a chance in winning? Italy? They got destroyed by holland. Yes their main centerback is gone but still, best goalie in the world, best defensive midfielder in the world, and materazzi is still "world class."

even after cannavaros injury:
well, how did that work out?
Who else? Czech republic maybe? The conceded a ton of chances to switzerland as well as conceding 3 goals to portugal.

well, how did that work out?
How about Germany?

once again, how did that work out?
BOTTOM LINE:
STFU about portugals and spains defense. They are fine. Even though i am praying for an early exit for portugal so scolari learns his lesson after playing quaresma 10 minutes out of a possible 180 (If he played in place of simao like he should have, at the rate he is scoring he would have had approximately 18 goals by now. SOB.) And also so the world can see what a bum c ronaldo really is. But i swear if i hear from that ***** julie foudy say that spain and portugal "are a little soft in the middle, and that could cause problems in the later rounds", ill slap her. Your thoughts.
Part B:
Lets assume that holland ties france and SQUEAKS by romania in the last game. Now lets assume that Italy after that embarassment absolutely destroys both romania and france. This will put holland at 7 points and italy 6, making holland the 1 seed and italy 2. Obviously Spain will demolish sweden, and lets assume greece beats russia. This will put spain at 6 points and greece with 3 points, with them only having to play each other, the winner becoming the 1 seed. If you are the coach of spain, after seeing the way italy and holland are playing, do you try to lose that game to become the 2 seed so you can play the weaker team?

even after cannavaros injury:
Goalie Gianluigi Buffon is immovable between the posts and Marco Materazzi should start alongside Andrea Barzagli as part of their solid defense.

We are strong defensively, play well as a unit and are clever tactically, so it has the makings of a very close game."
How about Germany?
