In our school there are many greek people, and they have all recently started saying that greece is a amazing footballing country and that they are ranked 8th in the world...

while from my understanding greece is a average footballing nation at the same level of the likes of iran (not at the moment but when we are good), korea (not at the moment), Japan (not at the moment, australia, switzerland...

They have also been saying that iran is shit at football because we are ranked 48th in the fifa rankings

can someone please explain greeces place in the footballing world compared to iran of 2005

Lets not forget Greece copping 10 goals and scoring nothing in 94 World cup and then not qualifying since.

any true greek fan would never make reference to 04' with regards to the stance of greek football, we are on the rise and we are certainly better than the nations listed..and not simply ATM, we are producing talent at a faster rate and our NT results are growing steadily..and our best player isnt a bench warmer, we have several players with high market values whom are constantly under the radar of many european clubs..and even if we stink it up in 08 so what, we still qualified and thats more than alot of countries can say

and its irrelevant to mock the 04 euro champs for not making it to the WC 06 if your team plays in the AFC, its 10,000 times harder to qualify via. UEFA...

As for IranSoccer#8 as much as it may be of discomfort to you our two countries on the NT level and club level are almost so equal its frightening..and draws against malta and moldova do not go unnoticed either..

hehehe...reminds me of some aussies who after worldcup 2006 thought that they could win the worldcup simply because they didnt deserve to lose to italy and italy won the worldcup

seems like they forgot they had to beat germany and france before winning the worldcup (thats if they would beat italy in extra time or penalty shoot outs in the first place)
