Back in the dark days, when English club football was supreme, United was in horrible horrible conditions. Inconsistency with results, underacheivement (though we would still beat Liverpool in the league most of the time anyway ) and changing of managers. 4 managers between Busby and Ferguson.
The sad part was around former manager Tommy Docherty who had seen United relegated in 1974 after having let go of Denis Law and a frustrated George Best over the previous year. He got a young hungry team and they tore the 2nd division up and immediately won promotion to finish 2nd in First Division the next season as well as surprisingly losing the FA Cup final to Southampton; United did win the FA Cup in 1977 beating a powerful Liverpool in the final 2-1. Docherty could have slowly build a team that would have won the title surely but was sacked the same year of the FA Cup win when it was revealed he was having an affair with the wife of the team physio - official reason by United given was Docherty illegally selling tickets allocated to his family.sigpic

its always nice and informative going through the history and ups & downs of a favourite club to actually become closely attached to the team for the rest of your life.
If all goes well and good, I will raise my kids as Manchester United fans - probably encourage them to be professional footballers - and let them know of the club's drama-filled past and present.sigpic

I heard he might sign for Persepolis, which wont surprise me as PP do need a stronger midfield now as bagheri is getting a lil older and players are moving around the IPL and to Arab leagues for money. He could be very useful for them and his set peices could prove deadlier then Nouri's or Mikbakhts.
