Iran went nuclear on its own sport from
1978 until 1990..yes it was war but there was also a civil war against sport..and sport won the civil war., that's why I was so surprised during mahsa protests people turned on sport and sport fans ,and forgot how sport fans were the original rebels against the gov in the 80s to keep all sports a live and won.and if people did not turned on sport and sports fans those protests could of achieved more.
After 1990 Asian games they start building the sport using all pre 1978 infrastructures, yeah some sports complex was made but not enough to promote all sports specially sports that cost money equipment wise...even our football and wrestling could be so much better if there is more decent fields and more decent wrestling gyms ALL OVER IRAN.

because of high price of tennis equipments and lack of tenniss fields the real athletics don't go after that sport, only people with money gmonnd I am not saying rich people are not athletic but when only few can afford it THAT SPORT WILL NEVER SUCCEED ON CONSISTENT BASES on int level.
Ghirat only takes athletic to certain level in today
pro sport, money and insfructures need it to succeed in today big sporting events...Comment

Iran now with 34 total medals. Looks like 20 out of 34 are from martial arts!!! Wushu, TKW and Koresh .
For now, only one team sport has a medal; Volleyball. The rest are all individual (or doubles like Table Tennis or Rowing) sports. Most in sports which are not supported at all by the government or the Olympic committee.

REASON IS OTHER NATIONS have invested money in their sports and woman sports in particuler.
there is more sporting events which some Persians have no interest or is too expensive to participate.............
iran sport is experiencing free fall and there no limit how far they will go down...
