      Inter Ditch Their Coco

Francesco Coco's five year association with Internazionale has finally come to an end after the Milan side negotiated a contract settlement with the notorious defender...

Inter have cancelled Francesco Coco's deal by mutual consent.

The defender has been freed in order to free up space on the nerazzurri wage bill, and the move will allow the 30-year-old to find a new club for regular football.

The former Italy international has spent the forseeable past on loan deals at Livorno and Torino, making only fleeting appearances for the pair.

Unsurprisingly, he was told that he was surplus to requirements at the San Siro over the summer.

As reported a few days ago, a pair of Major League Soccer clubs apparently now tracking the centre-back.

Coco could have left the club earlier, but a mooted summer move to St. Etienne broke down over medical concerns, with Les Verts pulling out of the deal late on.

Francesco represented Italy at the World Cup 2002, but fell out of international consideration shortly afterwards.

His various off-pitch and nocturnal activities, coupled with his injury record, gradually saw him sleip not down only the international pecking order, but also that of club football.

Cruz Extends Inter Stay After Lazio Rejection

Julio Cruz has signed a one-year extension to his deal with Internazionale, while the club have agreed to cancel Francesco Coco's contract.

Argentinian striker Cruz has committed himself to the Serie A champions until 2009 as Inter were keen to prevent him leaving for free next summer.

The 32-year-old joined Inter from Bologna in 2003 and has hit 34 goals in 86 appearances, including seven in 15 matches last season.

Lazio wanted to sign Cruz in August, but Inter turned down the offer and instead tried to tempt the Roman side to take two other players instead.

"I asked (Inter president) Massimo Moratti for Cruz," said Lazio president Claudio Lotito. "But they refused to consider selling him.

"Only Alvaro Recoba and Adriano were on the market and I wasn't interested in the Brazilian."

Inter have cancelled Coco's deal by mutual consent to allow the 30-year-old to find a new club where he will play regularly this season.

The former Italy international has spent the last terms on loan at Livorno and Torino and was told that he was surplus to requirements at the San Siro over the summer.

Materazzi: I'll Be Back... In October

Nine days ago, Marco Materazzi shocked the footballing world by declaring that his recovery from injury, first said to be at least four months in the making, would be complete by November. Now, he's gone one better, claiming that he'll be back in October...

Marco Materazzi could be back in five weeks, just two months after suffering internal bleeding on the pitch.

His injury, sustained against Hungary in Italy's friendly defeat in Budapest, was initially feared to be a six-monther, but this estimate was quickly lessened to four.

Since then, though, it has lessened considerably. First, Inter said he could be back by the end of November in time for the tail end of the Champions League group stages.

Then, Marco himself said he'd be back a couple of weeks before that, at the start of November.

Now, he's claiming a target of October.

The controversial centre-back said, "I underwent some more tests and X-Rays yesterday. I will be back in 30 to 40 days."

The Inter defender is out of the Italian squad to face France tonight, but has offered the national team a boost by all but confirming that he'll make the double-header with Scotland and the Faroes in November.

Conservative estimates have him back in action between October 28th and October 31st but he's confounded the doctors already. Could it be even sooner?

Kaka slams Inter Milan: You're wasting Adriano talent

                      tribalfooball.com - September 11, 2007

AC Milan ace Kaka has told Inter Milan that freezing out Adriano is simply a "waste" of his talent.

The Brazilian said: "I don't know how he behaves inside or outside the dressing room at Inter, but I know that Adriano must always play because his style enriches football.

"I don't like seeing him in the stands when he is fit to play, it's a waste of talent."

Vieira Hits Out At Inter Management

France skipper Patrick Vieira had some harsh words to say about Inter Milan's management.

Patrick Vieira is not an easy person to deal with, or that is what the managers at Inter must be thinking at the moment, after the latest statements made by the Frenchman following the club's suggestion that he not appear against Scotland.

"I've never chosen between the club and the Federation," he began. "If I am well I play, that goes for both my club and my country. I have no regrets."

The club's decision to communicate with him via the press did not go down well with him either.

"If at Inter they prefer to speak to their players through the newspapers rather than telling me what they think, that's their problem."

"I'm not used to talking about these things through the press. I am disappointed; not angry, just disappointed," he concluded.
